Unhappy My Mom........

Last night me and my mom were talking, she has always been my bestfriend, so we are very close. Well she is heavy too, not even close to what i weighed, but she talked to me about how she was sad that she can not lose weight, she eats healthy, and exercises everyday but she is on tons of meds for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), she cant switch because she has finally found something that works the best. Anyway, she says to me you have something to look forward to and i dont. I told her that she looks fine and that she dont look as heavy as she says. She does carrie her weight well. She is not jealous of me, she is happy for me, she is just sad about her. I dont know what to say to her. Im crying right now. If anyone has any suggestions on what to say, it would be greatly appreciated.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Perhaps...you could share your diet with her...pushing proteins and stuff.....maybe the diet part would help her....it's a glorified Atkins program and would be very healthy for her!

I don't really have anything too insightful to share, but I just wanted to let you know that I was going through some what of the same situation. My Mom is also my best friend. Like myself, she has had the life-long battle with her weight. My Mom has always been a little but smaller than me, but not much-maybe 20 pounds. She is so happy for me, and gives me more than enough encouragement, but I see that her weight is killing her. Not yet physically, but emotionally. I think it brings her down more than it used to bring me down , believe it or not. Funny story that she always tells everyone is that right after my surgery, my surgeon came out and asked for "Jessica's family"-they had the usual discussion about the surgery and how it went, how I was. My Mom notices that my doc was kind of eyeing her up and down, and she said "Don't look at me like that!" jokingly and my doc replied "You would be an ideal candidate for surgery too, come see me." Besides her telling me that, we never really discussed the option of her having surgery any further. Not sure if I should go there, or if I could stand the thought of her having surgery....

Anyways, sorry to ramble....just wanted to let you know that I COMPLETELY understand what you are going through, and that I wa thinking of you. Take care....

lez, exactly what meds are your mother on for RA? Because if she is on steroids, then it is going to make it hard for her to lose weight. Also, where RA is concerned, it doesn't have much to do with excess weight except that the extra weight will be a strain on the joints. The illness itself is unrelated to obesity, it's related to autoimmunity.
Does she have any other illnesses? If she doesn't, and it's just RA, and she is excersing as much as her arthritis allows, and keeps to a healthy diet, if she can lose just 5lbs, that can make a big difference.

((((((HUGS))))))

she first got RA when she was only 29, she is now 52. she will lose and gain. she just has trouble doing anything other than low impact things and she is sore alot. it is hard on her joints. as for meds i dont know, i just know that there is alot. Plus she suffers from depression and takes meds for that so im sure that is not helping things either.
