| Thanksgiving, to eat or not to eat....
This time of the year is always the hardest. I am lucky in the fact that my dad just had this same surgery about 4 months ago, so we can lean on each other for support while everyone around us is eating all this wonderful food. I think i am just going to nibble on this day, and then get back to those 3 squares... I don't know if it is the right thing to do, but for me i think it would be good. that way i don't try to eat too much or too fast, or the wrong things. This is my first holiday since the surgery...
Honestly it is times like this i wish i still got sick when i ate the wrong things, i know that sounds terrible, but i am so tolerant, and i really don't like it.
Anyway, just wanted to see how everyone else was going to handle the holiday foods. If you have some brilliant plan. besides drooling.... haha

okay here is my holiday tip that im famous for around here: okay NEXT week is thanksigivng so i need to repost this reminder to all you guys!
This Thanksgiving, when faced with foods we really shouldn't eat...sweet potato casserole, grandma's stuffing or the desserts calling our name...try to focus on the three bite rule to get through the holiday.
The First Bite is to get a good taste.
The Second Bite is to verify it was as good as we thought it would be.
The Third Bite is the LAST BITE, so savour it.
GOOD LUCK and also plan ahead to be prepared!

Thanks Lisa. And, Lch, just think you are waaaaay too close to goal to not be good. Like Lisa said, I'm sure if you limit yourself to 3 bites, you'll be satisfied. That's close to your plan anyway with nibbling.
This is my first holiday since surgery too, but I haven't really thought about how to handle it because so many things still make me . I guess that's a good thing right now.
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. I know you can do this.

thanks guys. i think i will incorporate that 3 bite rule... that sounds like a wonderful idea. But my candied yams, oh my gosh!! such temptation!! LOL i am going to be good. Afterwards, i would like to hear how everyone handled themselves... you know i am sitting here thinking maybe i should take a sheet of paper with me, write down everything i eat, that way i can look at the paper and be like, Loretta... shame shame look at what your doing. since nibbling can easily turn into grazing. LOL
Christy, truly i wish i still got sick... i know that is dumb but it is easier to stick to the plan that way. ahaha, but i have my dad there, we will support one another.

It will be interesting to see how our tastes have changed and what foods we think we want and won't like.

yea, the turkey is going to be great!!, i am hoping i can put just a small tiny bit of cranberry sauce on it.....
and after surgery my taste buds changed very much, i craved things with rich flavor so badly, i don't know if it is just because of being on the liquid diet for so long, or what but flavor, flavor, flavor, so i know the turkey will be so good.

While doing jumping jacks today during aqua exercise, I made my plan. I'm going to "nail" the turkey. By the time it hits my pouchy there will be some veggies and fresh fruit there on my plate to follow. I'm going to pretend that I'm a horse with blinders on toward the other "unmentionables". They won't even look good after the delicious bird, anyway.

I second what Kath says. I am so looking forward to the turkey. I may have a tiny bit of mashed potatoes. But I am soooooo looking forward to the white turkey meat. Yummy. And luckily I dont really like sweets. So I am hoping it will be ok. These next few months will be hard. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
