WHY DO SOME PEOPLE THINK THIS IS THE EASY WAY OUT . YOU SHOULD JUST US WILLPOWER . I HAD TO BIT MY TONGUE WITH HER BEFORE I READ HER WEAKINESSES TO HER WHICH ARE FAR WORSE . WHY ARE SOME PEOPLE LIKE THAT? AND DID I MENTION THAT SHE SAID THAT ALL BYPASS PEOPLE LOOK SICK AFTERWARD ARE YOU KIDDING ME I'VE SEEN SOME PEOPLE LOOK GREAT HERE AND IN PERSON

Honey I hear you, my sister who I thought was supportive made s slip the other day and it totaly hurt my feelings and angerd me all at the same time. My sisters girlfriend is doing weight watchers and has lost about 50 pounds so far, well they are coming to see me in March and her girlfriend made the comment that she couldnt come here to Hawaii and be bigger then me and my sister said to her "Well you are doing it the natural way and my sister had surgery so its easier for her" I couldnt believe my sister told me this, I was shocked and hurt and angry all at the same time. Why do people think this is easy?

Poopoo... I know what you mean. People can be sooooo insensitive. In realality, the surgery is probably the hardest thing to do. People just don't realize it. Our changes are permanent changes(Gastric). It's not only physical changes it's mental changes too. If gastric bypass is the way we decide to go, then that is a huge step in our lives as a oppose to just dieting where you can decide to stop. With surgery(gastric) it's a done deal. So to me by far it's definitely not the "easy way out". People who say that NEED to be enlightened, errrrggggg!!! There also might be some jealousy in that statement as well . Some people can't stand it we decide to do something to better ourselves. Who knows!!!!!
Happy Losing,
Debbie

It took me 3 years to decide to have this surgery - I struggles so much the I was a failure if I couldn't do it w/o surgery. But you know something - yeah the weight comes of quicker in most cases, but we all have to deal with the same things that others do - why we eat, what we eat, etc. And what makes anyone an expert on what I believe is right for me? Were they there enouuraging me through the successes and failures? Did they feel like they were so out of control that the mountain was to big to tackle? 10 lbs with "diets" wasn't even a drop in the bucket? I could go on. You did a brace and noble thing - you took control of your life and decided to LIVE. No one can live for you! Keep being strong and we are here for you as well!

I can understand you completely.I don't think it's even worth trying to make them get it because they already have their minds made up.Sometimes I just want to punch people but I tell myself to consider the source.I can't wait till you can put your sickly small self in her face!!!!

if they dont get it leave it be and go on with what you have to do. people like that and their negativity will mess you up. dont let it. stay focussed on what you need to do to get to where you want to be. you cant to the right place to vent. now breathe!! and hol dyour chin up and move on. there will be a lot more of that coming your way should you choose to tell people about this. shake it off!

EASY!!???!! I haven't even had surgery yet and this medifast for 4 1/2 weeks thing is NOT easy! No food, no chewing, no taste other than yucky chocolate (I gave up the vanilla). Dr. appt after Dr. appt, stress, food everywhere!!! I don't know why people are so ignorant (I have heard the 'everyone looks sick' thing too). But I have had LOTS of people at work say that they couldn't do what I'm doing (no food) and they are proud of me. But I've also heard - if this works, you won't have to have surgery. Yeah, 450 cals a day with real food on my current stomach? I don't think so!

Some people are just ignorant. This has been ine of the hardest things I have ever done. I don't even bother to try and educate these kind of people. It wasn't easy to earn the $35000 cash I put out for this surgery and it hasn't been easy adjusting my lifestyle either. I don't even bother to tell most people that I had surgery. Wgen they ask how I lost so much weight, I am honest and tell them a high protein, low sugar diet with lots of water and exercise. I don't bother to mention the scalpel. It is none of their business. Why is it that everyone always asks how you lost it?? Hard work. period!~

A lot of people will hear/listen to only what they want to hear. The (only) thing to do when you run into these people is to shake it off and walk away. You'll waste your breath trying to explain, and it will hurt you more because they won't make the effort to listen and understand. Leave them be for now. If you need to, you can get back to them later, when you have the time and strength to spare. Right now, just concentrate on prepping yourself for surgery.
