Jessica what you said is fine and I think there are many of us, including myself, who at times want to say things "face to face" to people but we just can't get the courage to do so and we let it slide and it builds up inside of us. By having the courage to follow up on your feelings and share those with your friend, you are taking a stand for yourself and for many of us who know that WLS was the best thing that has ever happened to us and just the "tool" we needed to help lose the weight that has plagued us our whole lives. Good for you and if she really is your "bf" then she will see the truth of what you said and make things right between you two. Good luck!

It has been a rough couple of days. You have no idea how much your kind words have helped. I was planning on just writing her off and never speaking to her again. I was actually thinking in my head, that i didn't want to send her the letter because it may make her feel bad. I thought about it some more, and decided that i'm sick of caring about other people's feelings who really don't care about mine. I'm glad that i sent the letter, and of course sad that i lost my best friend. What Kenya wrote really made me think- what she did was disrespectful and friends don't do that... Thanks, again.

Weight Loss Method Physician Prescribed Diet/Exercise | The only thing I might edit if I were going to send this letter is the harshness toward yourself!!! This woman already KNOWS your soft/weak spots. Why give her MORE ammunition ("She's so immature she can't even talk to me face to face...") to use AGAINST you??? There's no need for self-blaming. You take care of what you heard, thought, felt, etc and allow her to do the same for herself. THAT IS ONLY AN OPINION!!! I think your letter was very well written. In my dealing with my weight, my best friend has also turned out to be the most hurtful person I experienced. She said things to me that would NEVER have come out of my abusive ex-husband!!! Crazy!!! Honestly, I think we have to realize it's jealousy and let it roll off. If she could get the surgery, would she? If she's heavy enough and struggling--I betcha that's what's behind all this. You're a gorgeous intelligent young woman. You obviously have many strengths. So you didn't want to stand up and say mean things to someone... You're a kind girl who maybe needs some assertiveness training, or a TINY bit of counseling that focuses on THAT (How to assert without being a bully). Best of luck.  XOXO Mya |

I am getting comments like your friend said almost on a daily basis from people that I've known for years. I figure now it's crunch time and you'll truly find out who your real friends are and the family members that really care for you. You must surround yourself with people that support you all the way (btw, that doesn't necessarily mean they agree with what you've done, but just support you). I have an excellent support group in my family and a few folks at work. Those that don't want to support me, can just leave me alone now.
