I have a teenage son, he is 16. He was a skinny thing until about 4th or 5th grad then he got chubby, he would get chubby, grow taller, get chubby, grow taller. I never worried too much, but he has changed his eating habits since my surgery. I only buy fruits and healthy snacks for home, if he wants something "bad" he has to go shopping with me, he gets one item, and eats it on the way home. He also has been getting a little more exercise than he used to, not much though. My husband is another story, he eats whatever he wants whenever, he has to make the change though, I cant do it for him, I know he eats whatever he wants when at work, and if he wants bad food, he will make a special run to the store to get it.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Well my kids which are 15 & 16 eats whatever I fix. So that is a good thing for me. I did make the mistake one day and let them workout with me. I laugh more than I moved any part of my body. They were two clowns trying to work out with me. So my workouts are my own. As for DH he will eat what he wants and never gain a pound. Just makes me sick sometimes.....lol He won't eat what me and the boys eat but I can't change him but I am sure trying my best to get my boys in the best shape possible. I just wont work out with them anymore.

This is a great thread. I have an 11 year old daughter. She has watched me diet her whole life. She watched me lose 87 pounds in 10 1/2 months by doing the Atkins diet and then she watched me put it all back on. She has seen me just sit and cry and cry from being so miserable with my weight. I guess because of all this, she tries to eat healthy too, especially since my WLS. My DH found out 2 weeks ago that he is a Type 2 diabetic. He is 6 feet tall and he weighed 295. The minute he came home from the hospital from finding out about being a diabetic, he changed his eating habits. He even asked me if he could go to the gym with me. So, me, my DD, and my DH all go to the gym. It's good quality family time for us. And my DH has lost 17 pounds in 2 weeks. Men lose weight so much faster than women. When he went in the hospital, his blood sugar level was almost 500. When he checked it this morning, it was 102. WOW!!!

So, I guess my surgery, along with everything else, has made it easy for my whole family to try to eat healthy. I'm enjoying it too.
