I've actually had people tell me that I look sick, or on drugs, now that I lost a lot of weight. I went from a size 32 to a size 4, I've lost a total of 202 pounds. I know I'm going to look a little "different", but sick?!!? Really?! I don't even know how to reply to something like this, and I thought I looked GOOD!

Any advice?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

If it is any consolation, the last pics I saw of you were awesome! No matter what anyone else says, you are an inspiration to those of us who have struggled like you and are working on being healthier and happier and thinner than we probably have ever been in our lives. As long as you know that you are taking care of yourself and your dr doesn't see any problems, then you are good to go on and be proud of your accomplishments. They just aren't used to seeing you so slim and looking so good!!!

You looked fantabulous in your last pics.
Size 4 is very very nice. There was a thread a week or so ago about sizes, that the present day sizes are actually larger than the same number sizes from a while back. Like, it's one or two sizes larger now. So, 4 should be a very good place to be.
Judging from your ticker (current weight and current BMI) I gather you are about 5' 4" or 5'5"? Your BMI says you are right smack in the middle of the normal weight range for your height.

I think that a lot of it, aside from jealousy, is that people have never imagined that you could get to where you are now, so are having a very difficult time adjusting to your change, just as you probably are having a hard time trying to see yourself as you actually are.
As for drugs, well, BreeChick had the same problem, people spreading rumors that she was on drugs because of the weight loss.

The truth is, people will say anything and everything to justify themselves--that they don't need to do anything about themselves, change anything about themselves, especially when jealousy comes into play. Those who wish to do something about themselves will turn to you to learn.

I think the best thing is to just tell them, "Thank you, I'm healthy now and am fine, and I'm much happier, too." and just walk off, unless that person is seriously considering weight loss surgery, and would like serious information.

(((((((HUGS))))))

Great advice, Doc. I think you look great. It does take a bit to get used to the "new you" - they'll adjust.

The doc is right on with it all. I got all those same comments etc that you're experiencing now. People do NOT understand that often more often than not we are NOT NOT NOT big boned. Most are quite small framed underneath all the fat we hid under.

You look sexy, HEALTHY and wonderfully happy in all your pics.

All the negative stuff had a lot to do with why I moved out of state instead of starting my new life in the same old small town. But I had that choice and was able to make that kind of choice and I know not everyone does.

So in some ways my choice was to 'cut and run' instead of dealing with all the negativity. I got sick of the comments:
"she's taken it TOO FAR" "she looks like she's been doing METH, I bet it's that new husband, he has all those TATTOOS you know" "she looks like she had cancer"

I mean..come on !! look at those words...plain and simple -jealousy-

I'd worked hard hard hard to get where I was. I still work hard and struggle with my emotions and food each day. But being in a life where not everyone knows that I'd had the surgery is pretty nice. I am open about having had it when there's opportunity but I don't shout it to the rooftops.

People that continue to try and tear you down..

They want you to change BACK to who you were...they aren't comfy with you looking good and happy. Maybe these are relationships you need to break with..
something to think about.

You look wonderful and shine!

Sorry to hear that people are saying those things. You do look great, you have been one of my inspirations, your before pics I swear I could paste my head onto them and nobody would know the difference, we carried our weight just the same! I really get a thrill looking at your current pics, I know being built the same as you, it is not a far stretch to hope to have the same outcome when I reach goal! As for a reply, you could say "I am so sorry you see me that way because to tell you the truth I FEEL GREAT!"

You DO look healthy and great. I remember going through that when I was younger and lost a LOT of weight. Yeah I was in a size 3, but according to the scales I weighed more than I should. And people were telling me I looked like I'd been sick, was I taking diet pills, etc.

I know it made me feel crappy and chipped away at my self-esteem. Pleeeeaaassse don't let it DO that to you!

You are beautiful. You look great. You worked d#mned hard to get there. You deserve to feel really good.

I think Doc's suggestion about how to handle it is best!

XOXO
Mya

I Think From The Last Pictures I Saw Of You, You Looked Gorgeous!!!!!!!! I Think They Are Just Not Used To Seeing You Thin. I Think Like Our Brains Maybe Some Friends And Family Also Still Have The Heavy Image When They Dont See You And Then The Moment They See You Its Almost Like A Shock. So Maybe To Them It Doesnt Look Right. Not That They Are Being Mean. But Then Again There Are Some People Who Are Just Jealous.

Dont Listen To Any Of Them I Think You Look Great!!! You Are Such A Big Inspiration To Me.
