I need some advice here!! 
I'm about to have the surgery in March & have told my immediate family members. I've asked them not to tell people cause I prefer keeping it quiet since I don't live in my hometown anymore.....so far, so good with responds to this surgery.. 
Anyhow, to the BIG question:
I have a cousin whom I've always been very close to, she's more like my sister.. 
The problem is that she's a MOTORMOUTH  & I know she won't be able to keep the "secret".... 
I don't want to hurt her feelings by not telling her,  but I also don't want my entire hometown to know about this!! 
What do I do??
Tell her or not?????

Now lets see if this time I can help you instead of you me  I wouldn't tell her right now. If you feel more comfortable later on closer to your surgery date or even after the surgery occurs then I would tell her. If you guys are as close as you say, hopefully she'll understand your reasoning behind not telling her earlier on. Of course she might be hurt and upset for a while but that is to be expected. May salat el istikhara after you pray salat Aishat. This will help you make your decision.

Oh what the hell...why worry about it ? Is it that you dont want to tell her ...because you were saying shes got a big mouth ...or R U scared its going to spoil the surprise factor....the first time they see you look ? As you already no its up to you but I didnt and still dont care who knows about the fact that I had surgery done ! I didnt need the extra stress of trying to keep it secret. Plus the fact I didnt do this because of my appearance I did it for my health ! People dont understand that then its there problem...not yours ! I wish you luck with your surgery Amina ...and dont worry so much ... Its your life...right ?

LOL jerry...after all this time (5.5) years I really am kind of to that point with it too...it's not plastic surgery and people do eventually figure it out! Star Jones is a perfect example.
But everyone does have the right to their privacy...but hey small town alternative like I went through in ours..."I hear she's doing meth"...church elder aside....nice to know people love tearing ya down no matter what..
Sometimes it's better to just tell who it's important to tell and screw the rest of 'em. If it's someone you don't see but every so often..then don't tell 'em.

this surgery is funny......at first, you don't want to tell....like you've failed or people will think you are taking the easy way out.....AFTER you have the surgery, and you start to lose, it's like you do a 180 and tell EVERYONE...not only how much you weighed before, but EXACTLY how much you've lost. It was on the list of "you know you've had WLS if...." about how you wouldn't mention your weight before, but now, you are more than happy to tell any & everyone...and even post it on the internet!!!

You Know, Jerry, I've Thought Long & Hard About This.
Cause I Am Losing Now With This Medifast & Everyone Around Me Is Inquiring How I'm Doing It.
Since I'm Not One To Tell A Lie, I Tell Them. What Will Be The Reaaalllll Kicker Is After The Surgery. Since I Work As An Lpn, Many Of The Other Nurses Will Catch On Quick That I'm No Longer Doing The Medifast & Now Eating Extremely Small Amounts Of Food.
I Know How People Are Very Judgemental & I Guess That's What Really Concerns Me. I Don't Want To Be Looked At As A "quitter, That Couldn't Do It Myself With Willpower"
Most Of The People In My Small Hometown Have Known Me All My Life As Being Obese.
Now, My Thoughts Are With Bree, If I Don't Say Anything The Rumors Could Spread Like Wildfire That I'm On Crack Or Something???
Not What I Want Either.
Thank You All For Your Great Advice. I've Decided A Few Days Before Surgery, I'll Give Her A Call To Let Her Know.
God Knows, If Complications Arise I Would Want Her To Be Around To Help Out Where She Can..
