Default What did you eat 3 wks post op???

I am about 3 weeks post op and feel like I am eating way TOO MUCH food. What did you eat post op?? I feel like I am gaining weight!!

Here was yesterday:

breakfast- high protein pudding 4 oz (15-20 grams protein)
snack- none
lunch- chicken egg foo young, no gravy (chicken, egg, beansprouts) 2 oz
snack- high protein pudding 4 oz (15-20 grm protein)
dinner- canned chicken with lite mayo, 3 oz
snack- 2 melba toast, fat free refried beans 3 oz

WOW that seems like a lot of food compared to what everyone else is eating 6 months post op!! the problem is if I don't eat about every 3 hours I just crash.. I loose all energry, my pouch hurts and I am just drained! So this is what seems to be working. But it just seems like too much. I am on my 3rd bottle of protein shake... I am having trouble finding one that I can tolerate..not like, just tolerate. They make me bloat. I am trying the Isopure today and that seems ok so far, we'll see. If I add that shake, then I should eliminate at least 2 meals. I don't know if my body will tolerate missing a meal, the shakes are very liquidy, more like water then a shake..so should I count that as liquid or as a meal??

sorry so long.... any advice would be great.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Everyone Is Different. But If You Start Eliminating Food Your Body Will Starve Itself And Hold On To Its Own Fat And You Wont Lose Wt. So Do What You Are Doing. As Long As The Foods Your Eating Is Ok With Your Doc.

It sounds like you are making healthy choices....I narrowed it down to 2 things over time....PROTEIN FIRST and PUSH PUSH PUSH the water!!! I always have protein first...then if there's room, veggies/carbs....I basically avoid bread, rice, pasta and potatos (or try real hard too LOL)......

Always keep in mind...PROTEIN AND WATER!!

Tami,
I think what you are eating and the amounts spaced out over the course of the day look fine, a couple ounces, several small meals. If you want to get to a point where you are having only 3 meals, no snacks, if that is what you feel is wrong, wait till your body can space the meals out more. (I personally believe there should be a snack/small meal in between.)
Or if you think you are just eating too much per meal, I don't think so, you said yourself, anything less/less often, you crash. I think you are doing good. Again, a few ounces, several times a day IS what you should be doing. Your body is a furnace, you don't just throw a log on and let that log burn away and not put another one on...slow and steady keeps the fire burning.
The only other thing I would tell you, if the protein shakes are bloating you, you may be lactose intolerant (it may be temporary). I am, was before surgery, so understand, even if you use skim milk...'whey' protein is milk concentrate. I had to go for soy and egg white powder protein.
Good luck.

It takes time to get the hang of it.
However much you feel you're able to eat too much, you can't eat the way you used to pre op, so don't worry.

I feel that way sometimes, but now I eat 2 very small meals and a small snack in a day. Before, I probably ate more just for breakfast! I wish I were losing more, but I can't eat anymore and that may be part of my problem. Like they say, you need fuel, ya know. You're doing great and making good choices. Keep up the good work!

You are doing fine, it seems that you are eating ok, as long as you can tolerate the foods you are eating, keep doing what you are. Like everyone else said protein first most important.
