Default diet question

Hi all,

sorry I haven't been around for awhile....life's been hectic!!!

Anyway,

I've been bouncing all up and down 5 lbs for 6 weeks....

Just want to make sure my intake was correct.

I am at 170/175, depending on the day, soon to be 1 year out, 5'2 and about 20-30 lbs from goal.

I think these are supposed to be my totals:
62 g. protein
33 g. fat
112 g. carbs
1000-1200 total calories

I think the carb total is high though

Doc, your thoughts?

Hope everyone is well!!!!!

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Oh the other thing is I have developed another ulcer
For 2 weeks now I have been taking nexium 2x a day and carafate 2tsp.3x a day.

could this also be a part of the yo-yo issue?

glad you popped in. of course i have no answers. curious to see what doc has to say. though she has mentioned ulcers tend to make people eat ( to soothe it i guess) have you noticed yourself eating/ munching throughout the day? that might explain the bounce. other than that i am clueless LOL!

so glad you stopped in and that you are ok.

I watch my carbs, but more than anything, I keep my fat to a bare minimum...I haven't used cheese as a major source of protein because of this....I counted fat grams when I was on Phen/fen and I know that if I take in more than 15-20 grams a day, I simply do NOT lose any weight. The doc that prescribed the Phen/fen told us if you take in more than you burn off in fat, it will store...so I've always REALLY watched the fat intake....and of course, I avoid carbs as much as I can....

You have done so well with your weight loss...and of course, what works for me may not work for your or the next person.....I do hope you get to feeling better!

Hi, glad to see you are doing well.
Your diet balance seems good to me, but the fat intake is on ther upper end of permissible, so be careful not to increase that.
Carbs at 112g isn't that bad, nutritionally. The RDA (recommended daily amount) is at least 130g, so it's actually below. If you feel that carbs will make you crave, then keeping it around 100 is fine.

As for the ulcer, yes, that will cause the munchies to sooth the pain (it's most painful when your stomach/pouch is empty) and can prevent the weight loss. Once it's cured, you should feel better, and be able to eat healthier, adn lose weight.

Hey Jaime, glad to hear from you ~ I had an ulcer once and milk was the best at soothing - maybe some protein shakes to sip? (assuming you can handle milk....)

I've been drinking protein shakes, they do help. But I've found the lite and fit sugar free yogurt - 60 cal, 3 carbs, 2 proteins is helping more!!! I can't drink reg milk though and from overload early post opp, I can't do cottage cheese either...

Thanks!
