Default looking for savory snacks...

I have been craving for savory snacks...I mean all my protein drinks are sweet, even my supplements are citrus flavor. This has left me craving for something salty/savory. Does anyone else have this issue? and if so, what savory snacks are out there that are preferrably high in protein thanks in advance.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

As early out as you are I am not real sure there really is anything but I found when I was on reg food I loved beef jerkey nuggets, be careful of rice cakes and crackers because they are high in carbs

Almonds and cashews! There were a couple of "chip" type products that I found at the health food store that were high in protein that were awesome...for the life of me I can not remember the name of them though. There are many good choices out there, you just have to look for them. The South Beach Granola packs are absolutely wonderful...a bit expensive, but tasty!!

not even being a full month out nuts, cracker, rice cakes...all area very bad ideas.

try perhaps soups, reading labels to make sure they don't have corn syrups.. broths can take the edge off the sweet stuff.

everything tasted SO freakin' sweet to me early out. I cut the crystal light by more than half because it tasted so sweet.

Even now I don't/rarely ever crave sweet stuff, I prefer the salty things instead.

I have a few ideas, some stolen from these ladies!!!

Dannon light and fit yogurt with the special K or south beach protein water mix added might be good because you're so early out.

When you get a bit farther out, the same yogurt with the south beach granola added. It is expensive, but walmart had a reasonable price on it ($2.50 for a box of 5 packs - I like the mixed berry better than the cherry almond, but they're both good). When I move back to Buffalo the walmarts there don't have grocery stores

I have also eaten yogurt scooped up like dip onto the apple cinnamon quakers minis or caramel rice cakes - yummy!

Also for a crunchy, salty snack high in protein, the Revival chips that Edie told me about are fantastic and I know a couple other girls get them too.

And Dave always talks about dried peas. I haven't tried them yet, but he swears by them.

And if I'm really desperate for something normal, I eat a 100 cal snack pack, but maybe only 1 - 2 x's a week, it's not something I want to get into the habit of eating.

I remember feeling the same way "enough with the sweet"! At first, when I was early out but wanted salty/tasty my friend Kim said try V8 juice. I though...ick! But it was really good! Then it was Wendys chili - I had never eaten that before but was like OMG this is good. Then, when I could tolerate ground beef a little more I started making my own taco salads: ground beef, ground turkey or ground chicken, browned and then add taco seasoning (they do have reduced soduim). Then on top I put some fat free salsa, fat free sour cream and some black olives. Between the salsa, olives and taco seasoning the 'tasty' craving was satisfied! I still get the salty craving - between so many sweet tasting supplements, and also that nothing seems to pack a punch flavor wise lately - it still happens. The flavored soy chips from bariatriceating.com really are great and have protein. And when all else fails, I wrap a piece of fat free cheese around a garlic pickle (35 calories and 5 grams of protein!) Good luck!

Almonds are good, but not smoked or heavily salted. I get my wife dried peas. These are deydrated peas (like the dinner veggie), crunchy, slightly salted, 1/4 cup has 6 grams of protein. That's a lot of protein in a small amount. No refirgeration required, easy to place in a baggy in your desk, clothing, or car. A green veggie which is the best. Available online, at $1.35 a pound from clarks nutritions, who has a local store where I buy 20 pounds a month. My wife uses these as her primary source of protein since a RNY revision last July from a gastric bypass of 1980. Food had difficult going through her reattached intestinal area (which had atrophied in the past 27 years) and the peas went through fine. Her last labs showed her protein levels to be at normal levels. You might try these. If you can't find the link on their site, PM me and I'll send it to you.
