Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | My best friend is having her annual hog roast sat night. I only party about 2 times a year. I use to drink beer twice a year but now I can't have the carbonation. Was just wondering what would be ok in a small amount. Was thinking about the small bottels of kalua or mud slides? Any ideas would be helpful..thanks

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Well, more than alcohol, I see a problem with the Kaluha and mudd slides because of the sugar. Do you dump?

| I was thinking the same thing as Kitty. You have to be careful with the sugar. You don't want it to make you sick.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I drink wine ever so often...I have NOT had beer since surgery....watch the mixed drinks, as mixers etc can be LOADED in sugar....I also do rum on occasion...I mix it with fruit juice and my profect bullets....get my protein AND MY DRINK ON!!! take it slow...the alcohol will HIT YOU HARD...and don't drive...it goes right into your bloodstream and you will be "legally" drunk off one drink... |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I too have not tried beer yet....I have had a little wine and it was scary the first time but I think it was cause I drank it to fast....I waited a couple of weeks later and tried it again but in smaller amount and much slower and it seemed to be fine.....just be careful cause you do not want to get sick at the party. I always try new stuff at home first just to be sure how I am going to react. Have fun either way.

| Super Moderator | Keep in mind, alcohol will hit you about 5 times stronger than before--what is one glass of wine for *normies* will amount to 5 glasses for gastric bypass post ops. It hits you fast and hard, and goes directly to your liver. Also, (though the rule is no drinks with meals) with alcohol it would be best not to do it on an empty pouch. As others have said, if you are going to drink even only a wee bit, don't ever let the thought of driving home yourself cross your mind. Better be safe than sorry. All that said, have fun!!
