Default Preparing Protein Shakes

So, I have a butt-load of Protein powder and I am not liking any of them. I have to take in at least another 25 gms/day to supplement, but I am having a hard time even being near any of them. I really want to get rid of what I have before trying another brand. Here is my question...

Does it go down easier when shaken/stirred rather than blended? Am I taking in air when I run the shake in my Bullet blender, and that is why I don't like it?

I have yet to find a decent shaker. Both of the ones I bought at the vitamin store leaked.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

A lot of people have trouble getting those Protein Powders to mix with stuff.
Someone at my support group said she always thought it made stuff taste like someone had thrown a "Handful of Chalk Dust" in her food or drink.
Well the solution?
Liquid into Dry!

Suppose you are trying to add some to Yogurt or mashed potatoes.
Take your scoop, (or actually only ½ scoop) of the powder and put it in a coffee cup or small bowl.

Get a fork, and slowly drip some cool water into the powder while stirring with the fork.
Don’t try to just add the liquid. Attempt to make a very thick paste. Once you’ve got it into a thick paste then slowly add more drops and stir some more until you get a thinner paste.
Keep this up until it is the same consistency as the food you want to add it to.

By not having "liquid" per se, the powder can’t clump up and hang onto "bubbles."
Even mixing this up ahead of time and keeping it in the fridge is good.
Then just take out how much you want and stir it into your food.

I had great success this way adding Protein Powder to-
Yogurt, Soups, Oatmeal, Smoothies, polenta, etc…
It really helps going into shakes/smoothies.
You don’t get that "foam" on the top that, no matter how long you run the blender just stays forever.

It also gets rid of the "powdery" texture that can hang on otherwise.

This worked for me some years back! Hope this helps you!

Best Wishes-
Dx

I just don't know what to tell you. In the beginning I bought egg white protein powder and soy protein powder (can't do to much whey/dairy). I had a few different flavors. I even had the unjury chicken soup powder. I tried just mixed, I tried the blender (yes, lots of air bubbles) - it just didn't matter...gag!
I tried the vanilla flavor protein powder in vanilla sf/ff yogurt with a little no sugar apple sauce, little cinnamon - first few mouthfuls were ok...
I think it's Kathy that says she put the protein powders in the blender with yogurt and fruit - you just have to try it every which way and sideways.
There is just no way to make the powders anything other than tolerable.

The only liquid protein I can truly say I still do and tolerate is the blue raspberry bullets in 16 oz water (I can not even pretend to get the fruit punch one down ) If I didn't have the coffee achievone's I don't know what I would do.

Dx where have you been, that is wonderful advice about the powder Thanks.

I hated the powders that have flavor, so I bought the unflavored and it works so much better. Yes the bullet adds alot more air than just shaking it up, I found that after using the bullet to blend I would let it sit in the fridge and the air would go away it was more tollerable that way. I also haded my powder to luke warm hot choc, or coffee to get it in. hope this helps.

i use one of those rubbermaid containers and i shake mine. depending on the brand you might get clumps though.
also there are these sugar free syrups by davinci. i saw them in walmart. you could use that to change the taste. be creative! as long as you are determined to drink them all you will find a way thats tolerable. good luck! (and share whatever you come up with lol! a lot of us are in the same boat)

I also preferred the Un-Flavored Protein powders.
The sweet stuff was way to sweet for me.

I use my bullet, find it much easier to also add ice. The only problem I've had is that it seperates before I can get it all down so I have to constantly stir it. But overall it's not that bad.

The only protein supplements I can stomach are the acheivone and my beloved nectar. For me, especially early out, I couldn't do milk based protein shakes and the nectar is juice flavored. I mix them in 20 oz of water with crystal light singles or mix them in mostly the prepared drink w/water and they're awesome. I love the fuzzy navel (peach/orange) with either iced tea or orange sunrise crystal light, and carribean cool which tastes like a pina colada, especially in the strawberry/orange/banana crystal light.

One thing I learned on Bariatriceating.com was to take three to four protein scoops and add them to a two quart container of crystal light. I did this with the Unjury Strawberry Sorbet and Crystal Light lemonade. It was great. Every time I took a glass I just shook up the Tupperware pitcher I have.

Funny story, we were camping and I have these huge acrylic wine goblets. Well I decided to drink my protien in them so I felt like I was getting a treat. I came out with it and sat down by the campfire and my husband says, "Where did you get the Strawberry Margarita?" Guess what I will be drinking when everyone else is having cocktails?
