Default Freezing Cawliflower Question

Well I planted 15 plants of cauliflower and everyone took. So I am going to have lots of cauliflower and was wondering does anyone have a recipe on how to freeze cauliflower. A few years ago I frooze a little and it turned brown one me in the freezer and I had to throw it out, I think it came from not blanching it. I would love it if anyone had frozen cauliflower and would be so appreciated if you could tell me how you did it.
I also have a hint that I got from my mom a few years ago for pigs in the blanket. You take one head of cabbage(whole head) and put it into the freezer and in a few days you can take it out and I put it into cool water and the leafs come off so nice and are like a rag and so easy to fold over and make pigs in the blanket. I am going to try this and I am going to use hamburger with sourkraut and a few choped up potatoes or maybe some barley and make me some pigs in the blanket the healthy way. Before surgery I have done this and it sure works nice, I was using rice at that time. You know the old pigs in the blanket recipe, I am going to overhaul the whole recipe to make it healthy for me to eat now. I am also going to throw some heads in the freezer to make cabbage in the oven with just some butter over it. My daughter made one head for christmas that I had frooze that year and she used one head that I had frooze and she chopped it up and she put in cream, salt and pepper and some fryed up pieces of bacon and then she baked that for almost an hour, that was so delicious.
I also have another hint for sweet corn, when I freeze it I only peel off the husk& the hush hairs, and cut both ends off so that you have a nice corn cob. Then I do not wash it off and I do not blanch it, I wrap each cob with suran wrap and put them into a baggies, two to a package. If you have a vacumm sealer, they really keep good in their. When I was young I learned to blanch it and then when I got married I learned this method from my hubbys mom and the corn tastes so much better if you do not blanch it. I almost forgot, when I make it I always rinse it off becasue I did not wash it before I frooze it. I always make my sweet corn in the steamer. Yummy Yummy. In fact I am making some for supper that we bought last year from a guy that was selling sweet corn. Now I read this other hint from a magazine instead of using salt, use spray marg. and then use a little bit of splenda and sprinkle that on your corn instead of salt and oh is that ever good, that is what you call really good sweet corn.
I have learned alot of new tricks with canning veg. all on my own. I actually steam my beets and green beans before I can them and that really cuts the time down in canning and is much esier to do.
I have another one if you can your own pickles. Take a two prong fork and poke the cucumbers on each end pretty far, with only one prong before you put them into the jar, and you will never have a a hollow pickle again, I learned this one from my husbands sister.

I hope I have given you some ideas on canning and freezing. If you have any good hints I sure would love it, if you do not mind.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I can alot Kitty and freeze stuff to. I have never froze Califlower thou. I know it can be done because they do it to send to the grocery stores in the freezer section. I seen my mom freeze and can everything she could but potatoes. She never had a good result from green peppers. I cant stand them raw now because of it. I never liked canning corn either. It was always to sticky and milky if you know what I mean. I love to freeze it on the cob however. My hubby is amazed at what can be kept and how you do it.

The worst job is making Sour Kraut. It takes forever. But it sure is good! I will be waiting on this reply myself because i love Califlower.

I plan on canning alot of my veg, from my garden this year. Lots of tomatoes, we love to eat them like a fruit sauce, I want to make pickled beets and plain beets. I drain the plain beets and put them in the slow cooker and then add splenda brownsugar and a little bit of splenda and butter and let it in the slow cooker for a few hours and oh is that ever good. I also do that with carrots, but I do not can carrots, I put them in the drawer in the fridg. in a bag with paper towels in the bag to asborb the moisture and they keep till almost spring. I change the paper towels about every month or so. They are just like fresh carrots all winter long. I also do that to the store bought ones to when mine run out and they keep much longer that way. I am also going to can pickles, pickled watermelon, I am also going to make some of my homemade veg. soup. But I freeze the veg. for my soup in vacum seal bags. I am going to freeze some shredded Zuchinni, I am going to experiment with it this winter in making some dishes with it. I also have an order for my pickled watermeon for about a dozen jars or so. This family that we know loves my pickled watermelon and I turned them down for two years becasue I just could not do it anymore and he asked me if there would be a chance for me to can him some this year and I said a very good chance. He is so tickled pink that I am going to can pickled watermeon for his family. If anyone is interested in my pickled watermelon I can post the recipe. I want to can some salsa this year too. We do not eat much saurkraut and my friend is determined to make sourkraut for me. I told her that she does not have to do that for us and she wants to do it for me becasue I help her out alot. She told me to just bring my cabbage and she wants to do it for me. So I will bring her a few heads to make me some saurkraut. I am giving her some veg. from my garden. She did not grow Zuchinni this year and she loves spagetti squash and I will bring her plenty of them to her. My daughter loves them too. I am raising the spagetti squash for them becasue I am not crazy about them, if I have one that is more than enough for me. I have the rom in my garden so I am raising them and they grow like crazy here. One year I had 54 spagetti squashes and they were huge. I only kept two for me and gave two big boxes to my daughter and a few to my friend. I feed them full of them that year. I do not do anything with peas. My family likes to eat them raw. My daughter kids love to eat them right by the side of the garden, right after I pick them. I will not let them eat them in the house becasue they are messy to eatin the house. That is what I did with my kids when they were little, they had to eat them outside. My daughter passed that tradition onto her kids and they love to eat them outside. My husband and I eat them outside to. I feel my garden is a gold mine becasue veg. are so expensive in the store. The garden is not just for me. I plant it for my sister and her husband, my parents, my aunt, and for my kids, and then if there is any left over there are always people who want fresh veg. from the garden. I never have to throw veg. away I always found homes for my veg. When the red grapes come on sale in the store I also can about 20 pints. I use a light syrup and I use splenda for my sweetner in my fruits and veg. except for pickled watermelon. I am going to try a few jars of spenda in my pickled watermelon this year and see how it turns out.

I don't do any canning, and don't freeze much unless they are some leftover preparations, but I think with cailflowers, either boiling or steaming for a few minutes, let it cool, and pack in a freezer bag might be the trick.

Kitty I have frozen Cauliflower after making mock mashed potatoes with them. Basically just steamed them really well, seasoned them up, added some Cream of Chicken protein soup powder I had and it was really good. Froze with no problem in small containers.
