| Soy nuts?
I wasn't able to find dried peas at the supermarket today (glad I found out I can buy them from Dave!), so I picked up some soy nuts. If the label on the bin was correct, they have 10g protein per ounce. I tried some, and they're lightly salty and crunch. Taste similar to a peanut but much smaller. My pouch did OK with them. Anyone eat soy nuts or know if they're OK for bariatric patients?

They should be fine, and a very good protein source.

Yep- I have had them since surgery. My only problem is that all those foods like that are so dry I want to drink with them so bad.

Yes, they're a fine soure of protien in a soy form. As long as you have not allergies to soy products, then it's fine. Edamame has a higher protein content per 1/4 cup serving, and that may be due to the different form of soy. Edamame is a immature soy bean that is first parboiled (blanched) to prevent further maturation, then dry roasted. Soy nuts are the soy beans at full maturity that are dry roasted. DAVE

A summer staple for us that is a good appetizer/snack. |

The next time I go to Costco I'll pick up some Edamame to try. Love the idea of getting my protein in an easy snack.
KB--I'm the same way. It was SO hard not to sip water while eating soy nuts, but I managed not to!

Oh wow, I hadn't even noticed that. You're not even a month out. I just started peanut type foods last month (5 months out!) Be careful.

The asian market here has several brands of frozen edamame. We love them! sea salt on them when they are piled up and pick 'em up and pop out the soybeans. They also have the shelled frozen that I have been cooking in the rice cooker with the rice and then I scoop 'em out and eat those with chopped chicken and soy sauce.
I've been pushing a lot of complex proteins like the soybean with rice (sushi type is my fav at this point) and chicken..
oh BTW, I have come to love DailyPlate.com!!! It has the listings for all the 'weird' things I eat, don't have to add them in and also I can create 'meals' and just click that. I don't always do a lot of creative eating LOL
