Default Almost 2 years out after surgery

Itís been 21 months since I had GYN surgery. I had a rough start and the first year was pure health hell. Saying all that and how things are today, I would do it all over again if I had to. It took me 10 months to get where I wanted/needed to be at, but also lost a lot of lean body mass.

Really over the last year, I've and continue to learn healthier ways of eating, while not using a lot of strange or new products that the rest of my family wouldnít eat.
Me personally, I try not to use unusual product that has to be ordered. I try to modify recipes to cut down the carbs/fats. I don't fry foods, nor do I eat breaded meats.

I eat all types of lean meat/fish and shrimp, veggies and small amount of fruit. Iíll eat some SF jello for my desert if I eat it as a snack then I and add protein powder to make it a little healthier.

If I use a hoagie bun, then I hull out the bread and just use the shell of the bread for easy handling and a taste of bread.
I have really contoured breads, pasta, potatoes and corn in my diet. I rarely have pasta, but for a treat, then I may treat myself, then regret it because of the hunger feeling I get quickly there after and as well as a well needed nap because of the carb intake.

I rarely go out and eat anymore because I believe I can make it a lot healthier for me and not have to worry if I am close enough to the bathroom if there is hidden fat in my food or if something doesnít agree with me. I have found it frustrating out in the public when looking over the menu dishearten. They call it the "Healthy Menu" at restaurants, but still steam the veggies in oil or butter... Go figure...lol

I've learned not to eat hamburgers in the public eateries, because of the visits to the bathroom . So if I am craving a burger then I make one at home. I'll order a chicken sandwich and sometimes remove the bread just for the veggies/chicken. Usually this amount is good enough to fill me, and if I order salad then its way too much salad and not enough protein...

I have been exercising now for a little over a month with weights and my gazelle (to do my walking on)Ö and I am gaining some muscle mass and lean body mass backÖ which are both well needed.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Wow, sounds like you are doing great. Yes, I too have just about given up on eating at restaurants. About the only thing I can find that's safe is a grilled chicken breast caeser salad with the dressing on the side. Even then I have to watch it.

Thanks Doc, I know I don't post much, but this site gives me much peace about things I'm going through and to see what others are going through as well makes me feel normal.

Richard,
Sometimes not often I have to force myself to eat, anymore it just comes naturally. I sometimes wished I had that feeling of not being hunger... But then again, before I was made to eat more to gain some weight by my Nutrionist, I did.

I wish you the best.

I hear ya, when I order salads I have them to put the dressing on the side, as well as bring it with my meal, so I make sure I eat my protein first.

I just wished we had a farmers market year round to where I can get fresh/organic foods year round.

Do you have any good farmers markets where you are at in VA?
