Default Fruit

I was never a fruit eater prior to surgery, but now I crave it for some reason. My only thought is that I push the protein and vegetables so much, maybe my body is needing it. Do any of you eat fruit? I ate 3 chunks of pineapple and a banana this morning. I dont want to eat it to the point where I gain, but is it ok to have some fruit?

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I eat fruit as often as I can....problem is..pouch won't hold much and you need to test the waters....fruit is high in fructose (natural fruit sugar) and high sugar can cause some people to dump.....I adore pineapple and I do bananas, peaches & apples....I have to buy small bananas, or I wind up wasting them....

I eat 2-3 pieces of fruit/day. Very early on, applesauce made me dump, but I didn't feel too bad, as I am not a fan of applesauce anyway. I keep my portions down to 2-3/day because that is my food program ("old school" weight watchers).

My lunch has a couple bunches of grapes, which I will mix with some yogurt for early afternoon. I also have an orange, which I have to remember to TOTALLY chew before swallowing.

I am a believer that seasonal fruit is God's first food for humans, as it is readily eaten without preparation. My metabolism has screwed up so I can't live on fruit, but I wish I could.

I eat fruit also...not too much but sometimes I crave it. Yesterday I ate 2 very small apples and about 5 strawberries. I actually ate one of the apples for breakfast because I was craving it so bad....the other I ate for snack in the afternoon. I think fruit is good in moderation...do eat small portions to prevent dumping from too much sugar.

i do fruit but i have to balance it with protein or i fall asleep (thats my dumping) i usually do cheese with my fruits. strawberries and a cheedar cheese stick was my am snack for a long time.

you figure out what works, just be careful because eventhough it is natural, it IS sugar.

Yes, fruit is a good choice especially if it squashes a sweet tooth! When I eat it though I try to balance it with a protein. (banana and peanut butter, applesauce and cheese)

I also eat fruit. I am almost 5 months out. I don't eat a lot of it, but when I do, it tastes good. I can only eat small portions. Very satisfying and nourishing too. I don't eat the peels of apples though, it seems to bother my pouch somewhat.

I eat fruit everyday. Today I had two pears, one this morning and one tonight. But my pears are small, actually my fruits are all small when I buy them. I also eat watermelon, cantalope, strawberries, raspberries, oranges, nectarines, grapes, bananas, apples, baked or canned most of the time, I am not to crazy about raw apples and I do not like applesauce unless it is in a cake, and kiwi. I eat fruit and veg. everyday becasue I think it is healthy food and our body needs the vitamins from them.

I could live on fruit, but as was said, you almost have to test the waters with some. I still get a bit ill from pinapple and grapes, but they are also higher in natural sugars. After I eat, especially grapes, I actually have to lie down because I get so tired, and sorta icky feeling. Fruit is a good source of alot of vitamins though, so as a whole I think fruit is a good thing, comparing it to what you probably used to eat, as just like the rest of us did. mike
