| i'm sick of this
5 weeks out today. i'm bored of food. i don't get much variety so i'd usually just rather not eat because it isn't enjoyable.
i'm eating a lot of soups, cottage cheese, deli meat, yogurt, chicken, turkey, canned fruit. that's about it. i'm bored and i want my normal stomach back.

I'm so with you. I had my surgery on 9/8 and I hate eating too. Sick of all soft foods. My taste buds are all messed up. But I know this is all part of the journey and it'll be over soon. Hang in there, I will too and together we will be enjoying food again. Promise.

Hang in there. It does get better. I do remember going thru this stage. Just follow the rules and it will pass. Best of luck.

You will get your appetite back and be able to eat more as time goes on. Somedays I wish I was back in the first stages where I got full very quickly.

I'm only three and a 1/2 weeks out and I'm already bored with food. I'm constantly struggling to make sure I get in my protein and I have grown to despise the taste of my chewable vitamins.
Plus, I get horrible cramping with anything but hot liquids, so I'm forced to drink cups and cups of decaf hot tea. It's quite annoying. Does anyone know if this is permanent?

Amen, I hate what my diet has become. I can only handle soups and turkey chili. I do like the chili though, but it is too getting old. However I will never wish for my old stomach back. My health is sooo much better now and its only been 3 months since surgery. No more high blood pressure pills and no more diabetes pills. Remember that is why you had this surgery in the first place. I think if there was any other reason for having it maybe you shouldn't have done it.

Awww - hugs everyone - we were all SO THERE! And it does get better - it's just the stage that you are at - a couple more weeks and you'll be felling better, food will sit better and taste better, you'll start to experiment more and have more options - honest!

I'm 10 weeks and have felt the same way. I just don't care for food anymore kind of feeling. But then I find one day I was able to eat a new food like some spicy shrimp and have been experimenting with all kinds of fresh fish. They seem to do well with me. I love foods with strong flavoring now, it has to be spiced up with something. I'm obsessed with looking for new recipies and watching the food network for different ideas of cooking up some lean meals.

OK. Reality check here. (I am punchy right now. My county is a disaster area with fires and the Santa Ana winds are killing my sinuses and attitude.)
Before I had my surgery, I made a pact (not sure if it was with God or the devil at the time) that I would go to ANY LENGTHS to lose this weight. ANY LENGTHS! For this reason, when I feel like a whiney-butt about not being able to eat grand amounts and varieties of food at a sitting, I remember that pact and trust that there is a greater purpose for me than, well, eating!
Food is there. Food will always be there. A little at a time, I can eat anything. Some things I plan to eat at dinner time because what is in it makes me tired enough to go to bed NOW. (My dump style) But I have the opportunity to eat it.
In the long run, we have lost nothing to this surgery, except the weight that kept us so sick for so long.
Stepping off my soapbox now...
