| Having trouble remembering to eat
I'm supposed to consume 1/2 cup servings of protein shake, cereal, protein shake, soup and protein shake five times a day and I'm having trouble remembering to do this. With the wound vac it's not easy for me to get around and do much of anything right now and if I get three meals in I feel like I'm doing good. Any suggestions for remembering it's time for a meal would be appreciated!

A timer, memos stuck all over the place, alarms, etc. You might try setting the alarms on your cell phone, if you keep that close to you all the time.
Good luck.

Plan out what time you should have each of your meals every day now - and stick to it day after day - not just when you remember. Breakfast at 8 am, snack at 10, lunch at 12, snack at 3 pm, dinner at 5 pm...or similar... Getting into a routine is a life saver and helps you to keep in control. Good luck!!

Once that drain is out of your gut, you will be much more mobile and "on your own", so it will be mundo important to get some sort of a schedule down now. (Who am I to talk? I never get my water down every day!)
Set an alarm on your phone or puter or clock radio...whatever to remind you of your eating times. And remember to take a good half hour to consume your meals/snacks. Your pouchy can't hold too much at a time.

Cat - I'm having the same kind of problem, only without your complications. I just lose track of time and suddenly I'm two shakes and a meal behind! Plus, with the 30/30 rule I'm staying up late just to get that last one in! I like the timer ideas. I want a watch that just beeps every half hour. How are you feeling?

I have a hard time remembering to eat on the weekends. I get going doing something or going somewhere and realize that I didn't eat. Luckily it is cheap for me to stop somewhere for an egg and cheese omelet yumm! During the weekdays while I am at work, I have timers set in my email for both eating and when I can resume drinking again.
SarJen - what is the 30/30 rule? I have not heard that before?

Don't drink 30 minutes before eating, and don't drink 30 minutes after eating. Did your doctor say anything about that?

I agree with what others have said. Try to set a reminder on your cell phone or something. It will get easier and I hope you are feeling good with the drain and stuff.

Today I woke up with some real energy! Getting 2 units of blood yesterday really helped. I tried the shake this morning with soy milk instead of cow's milk and I'm not feeling any of the usual nausea at all. I think this might be the key to why I just didn't feel like eating. I'm going to avoid milk for a while and see how I feel.
