Default Learned a lesson yesterday

I had dinner: grilled chicken and cottage cheese. Ok, but disappointing.

My husband had a roasting chicken in the oven and it came out right after dinner. It sat for a few minutes and then I started peeling off all the skin and separating the legs and body (it's easier when the chicken is still hot). While I was doing that I kept popping bits of chicken in my mouth (just like I always do). Chicken tastes the best when it right out of the oven! Well, I kept skinning and popping and pretty soon.... my eyes almost popped out of my head. Wow. Too much! Hurts! Puke? ....

So I walked around the house for about 30 minutes trying to decide if it was all gonna come up or stay down! It finally decided it would all stay down. Wow. That hurt!

So, two lessons:

1 - I have to watch for those old habits! I just kept popping bits of chicken into my mouth without even thinking about it!

2 - Eat something that tastes good for dinner! Tasteless grilled chicked IS NOT WORTH IT! If it's disappointing, chuck it and find something that's going to taste good and be satisfying so that I'm not looking for something else 15 minutes later.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Awwww, sorry you had to learn the hard way.

My "old habit" popped up when I was sitting in a training class and they passed a tray of huge chocolate chip cookies while we worked on a survey form. Not thinking (because I was concentrating on the form's questions) I took a cookie and ate it while filling out the form. It wasn't until my heart started beating like it was trying to escape my chest, and the sweats started that I realized what I had done. LOL

Sarah.. when I bake or broil chicken I put seasonings on it. I have a mesquite seasoning by Durkee I like to shake on my chicken. Has a bit of kick. Or.. I use Ken's Steak House Light Accents in Honey Mustard Salad dressing (but I spray it on chicken). It's a spray on. 10 sprays = 15 calories, 2 g sugar, 2 g carb, 0g protein.

Just some additional ideas for flavoring.

Sorry you didn't feel well. i was making cookies yesterday with the kids and it was all I could do not to lick my fingers when we were done icing them.

Your not alone. We have all been there. Bad habits are hard to break. But sometimes its a good thing too. Our tool is there and keeps us in check.

In the begining I wouldnt be the least bit hungry but I would cook for the kids or family and automatically taste test things and it was so natural. sometimes I would catch myself and spit things out. But its hard.

Glad your ok and you didnt get sick.

I agree- it's hard to break habits. For me I did so much mindless eating prior to surgery that it takes thought when I eat now....and if not I am in trouble! I told my husband I have been feeling "normal" lately with eating and after an incident with a nut it reminded me I am NOT and never will be! I still have to chew chew chew and eat slow.....forever!

I hear ya, sister. I caught myself pouring regular ranch dressing in a lunch salad a couple weeks ago...I literally SCREAMED when I realized what I had done. (I also then rinsed the dressing off the lettuce.

Mindless eating will be the downfall of any or all of us (says I who just downed a piece of peanut brittle).

I had a bout with mindless eating today also. It is so hard to cook and not sample the food. Also I ate a hershey kiss just because it was there and it was taunting me. I didn't get sick but I am going to have to learn that mindless eating is what sent me to the operating room.

I always got sick sampling food while cooking just not thinking and not chewing enough, then I was full when it was time to sit with the family and eat, so that was a habit I had to stop.
