Default Tired all the time

I had my surgery a month ago and did the clear liquid diet for 5 days, then the pureed foods diet for 3 weeks after that. I started the soft foods diet this week and some of the vitamins but I am constantly very tired. I'm getting plenty of sleep but I'm having difficulty with always feeling worn out.

Any suggestions??

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

It will come. It took me close to 2 months before I felt I was back to my old self. I went back to work at 4 weeks but still felt drained. It is okay to give yourself some time here you just had major surgery.

I hope that you start feeling up to par soon. Take care

Please both of you give yourself a little more time. It isn't easy getting back all of your energy right away. I had my surgery almost exactly one year before you and look at my numbers. I didn't really start doing regular excersise until April and then I joined the Y. I go to classes MWF and do a video at home on the other days. Before April I pushed myself to do my bike and some walking but it was not much. Just enough to say I did.

Focus on getting in that protein and your fluids. It will help some. (((hugs to both of you)))

it's far to easy to forget we had major surgery whether it was done open or lap. But I find that the ones who've had it done lap have very unreal expectations about recovery.

make sure you are drinking plenty of water, doing your protein, vitamins if you can get 'em down and walk every day. It takes time to get back energy and your body NEEDS to be allowed to recover and to feed it what it needs before you really feel a ton better.

but I promise, it's like one day you wake up and it's this amount of energy you never had that just never ends!

Your body just had major surgery and it is spending much of its energy healing. It took me a while before I was back to my normal energy level. Keep eating as much protein as you can, take your vitamins, and lots of fluids. It helps with healing and energy. Give your body some time and you will feel so much better soon. If your blood levels need checked, be sure to do so to check for vitamin deficiencies or anemia.

Hi Healthierme,

I so know that feeling, but I have had problems getting food down, so I put it down to that, but i do think what everyone else says is right, we try to run before we can walk, and in the end it only knocks our progress back, so follow everyones advice, get your protein in, vitamins, fluids, and if your body says rest, rest....

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on your date.
(((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

At this point, your lack of energy is quite normal. Everyone will react differently, and some will feel better, others won't for a while yet.
Your body is still healing, and adjusting to the major rearrangement that your guts had done. It will take a couple more months yet for your system to readjust and realign and start functioning smoothly with the new plumbing.
Rest when you need to, move when you can. Once you are past the 3 month mark, things will be running much more smoothly and constantly.
