My surgeon wanted me to work up to a 1/2 cup, when that time came I said theres no way and she said do the best you can. If you don't want to do 1/2 cup don't do it. In addition I can't eat anything .. some things will or would make me sick. I mean sick (dumping) .. crawling around on the floor. If your having rny gastric bypass you will only be able to tolerate so many sugars, of which is a good thing. It helps deter you from eatting things your not suppose to. The time before and after the surgery is to start and maintain good habits. I am not saying I have not eatten something I should not have. It is just not in the amounts I would have in the past. My surgeon has a three bit rule. Talk to yourself through the process, 'this food will always be here and I can have again next year'. I have also chosen not to eat certain things. I had a bad week this past week (as you can see by my other posts) ... I woke up this morning feeling better. Not craving so much. You will go through periods where you want to eat everything .. it's tough. But these times will pass.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

isn't it amazing how varied the surgeons instructions are - from one doctor/nutritionist you will be told one thing and then from another you will get completely different instructions.

let's see at 4 weeks out you can eat anything you want ..... hmmmm i guess they are counting on their patients to use ultimate wisdom in healthy eating .... hmmm seems to me that people having this surgery are doing so because they did NOT have ultimate wisdom in their eating habits. and could use a little better advice

I think maybe the reason he said I can eat 'anything I want' is because when I had to give detailed counts of my diet for a week, what I eat is very healthy. Moving here to Norway drastically changed my eating habits simply because there is no access to bad food really. Its too expensive to eat unhealthy. I cook everything from scratch and food is really my passion, cooking is what I do and who I am. I guess maybe he was assuming I would make all the right decisions? Regardless, it scares me because I need this to work for me, I need it to help me. Like I said..my biggest fear is what I don't know and god knows I don't know how this is going to be, I am basing my thoughts off of you guys at the moment. I just can't wait to be on your side of the fence! Then the questions will really start coming

Im with Doc on this. Do what YOUR surgeon told you to. Mines different so is everyone elses. Mine had me on solids about 4 weeks out however you body will let you know if it dont want it. Go buy what your dr said not us. I think what he meant yours is try it but honey trust me on this one if you get a tiny bit of what ever in you will be doing good. I hope I can never ever eat like I used to. I do eat what ever I want however there are somethings I cant tolerate.. just cant eat and if i do its just the max 4 tablespoons on a good day. See the difference?

Rather than focus on specific foods or ways of fixing them, focus on nutrition and finding out what pouchy likes and will accept. Its kinda like having a baby ~ you can plan to your hearts content as to what you are gonna do but ultimately you have to wait til the time comes to know whats best ~ hugs ~ don't worry, you'll make good choices

My 2 cents that others have already said...just because you can does not mean you should. We have gone through too much pain and suffering through our lives, mentally, emotionally, and physically to go through such a drastic measure to have our innards re-routed just for what? So we can eat exactly what we had before the surgery? Don't think so, ESPECIALLY at such an early stage post op.

Your mileage may vary.

Everything was layed out by my nutritionist starting two weeks before my surgery. She laid out the stages. Post op it gradually moves up week by week. This is perfect for me. I am not equipped to guess. Maybe you should ask your nutritionist for more direction.
