Talking Fast Food... What do YOU order?

OK, of course we all know the evils of fast food.... but, life being what it is, it is a reality. I have two boys, ages 6 & 12. While I am *trying* to teach them both to be healthy eaters, I cannot escape the reality of fast food. So, I find myself in the drive-thru line about twice a week. Usually I just buy for them, but when I am hungry, I want to eat too! I know I'm not the only one, so let's share - what works for you in the fast food line?

some of my fav's.....

Taco Bell:
1 crunchy taco
1 pinto's & cheese.....
I dump the contents of the taco (toss the shell) on top of the beans - and eat 'til the pouch says 'nuf!

El Pollo Loco:
1 Chicken Soft Taco al Carbon
1 Loco Salad (or garden side salad is a bit bigger) w/ Light Cilantro dressing on the side
Dump the taco's contents into the salad (I order my taco without the onions, 'cause I hate them!), add a tiny bit of the dressing.... and YUM! (a few of their pinto beans are good on it too.... but I'm too cheap to order them when I don't need more food.)

Baja Fresh
1 Steak California Taco "naked style" - no tortilla w/ added guacamole
crumble 1-2 chips on top and add salsa for a dressing.

I'm having a tougher time with the burger places. I usually get the smallest burger I can with veggies on it. No mayo - catsup and mustard instead, then ditch most of the bun. Doesn't always sit well, but the "grilled" chicken is usually even worse.

Anyone else? I could use suggestions for Sonic, McD's, Burger King, Carl's Jr...... please share!

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

the only fast food i can eat is Wendy's.
burger minus the bun, grilled chicken sandwich minus the bun, chili...i dunno. i guess cuz their food is made to order i have an easier time digesting it so i ONLY eat burgers from Wendy's.

i can also do a soft taco from taco bell. they dont sell the side of refried beans here. i guess their menu items are offered by region...i have emptied out bean burritos and eaten that

I like your approach to Taco Bell. We have a Taco Bell in the Student Union and I'll sometimes do like Kenya and gut a bean burrito. I've been known to handle a chicken quesadilla, too. There is also a Chick-Fil-A there, and I'll sometimes get an order of their nuggets. The breading is much lighter than McD, Wendy's or KFC. I'll get either the Ranch dipping sauce or mix a Buffalo with a couple of packets of mayo. All their other sauces are way too sugar-laden for me. Taco John's makes a pretty good chicken burrito if you keep the rice and 'taters out of it and then don't eat the whole tortilla.

Of course, I eat fast maybe once or twice a month, if that. Not like the good ol' days when I would eat multiple items from several stores or even c-stores between leaving for work and getting home. (And the liters of diet dew!)

Gagggg!!! How did I ever think that was good for me????? Or did I think????

We dont have the pintos here either. I find my self drawn to Taco bell also because of what is on that menu. I will get a taco myself and eat the insides out. Some times the hard shell. I go for the Chicken Quesdia also. I can only eat a part of it but its flat with cheese chicken and that hot sauce on it. I do like it. Wendys has got more of a fresh food variety than most. Im like her with the burgers. They are fresh and I get a small one. I wont eat the chili however. I seen it made once.

Hardees is another that makes fresh burgers to order here any ways. Its 100 percent pure beef. I dont eat the bun on it eithr. I have them put it in lettuce if I get one. The low carb breakfast bowl is nothing but protein and meat. Its almost 4 bucks yes but can do me 3-4 breakfast or top my hubbys off LOL.

I need to add this in ok... anyone wanting to try anything like this make sure your far enough out and have enough time to attempt to eat anything like we are discussing. You notice we go for the healtier stuff and leave breads and others stuff alone. Im almost 2 years out... and I would love absolutly love to eat a steak biscut or any biscut from Hardees. I cant do it. I want to but it will make me so ill so very ill.

yeah thats true. i thought about this AFTER id already posted. i would not recommend fast food for anyone less than a year out. beans are no biggie but you shouldnt be testing waters with burgers and deep fried nuggets...

and also, i eat out like maybe 2-3 times a month. i dont eat this stuff regularly at all. sorry i didnt say this earlier...

Same here if its more than twice a month its odd for me to. Before surgery I would hit them twice a day breakfast and lunch.

we also had a white castle near work. i could eat a "sack of 10" (10 mini sliders) for lunch...damn.

I usually eat at wendy's the chili as well or cheesburger no bun..
as far as mcd's: i get the yogurt parfiet(sp) which could be a problem if you dump on the sugar.. i am ok with it.. i start with that then wat the guts out of the grilled chicken wrap.

AGAIN~~ not very often....

McDs:
I'll get either the plain bagel w/cream cheese or the egg & canadian bacon muffin for breakfast,
a small hamburger or the quarter pounder if I'm really hungry - no cheese and peel half the bun off

Burger King:
Whopper Jr: no cheese and mustard in place of the sauce

Hardees:
Ham & cheese sandwich

Dairy Queen:
Baby sized cone

That's it. If I want Mexican I go to a mexican restaurant, they're almost as fast as fast food and better quality. We live out in the country so there's not a lot of temptation. I only do fast food if we're on the road and then usually I pack foods for the trip so I can avoid eating at the fast food places. Maybe once every month or two.

Default Fast Food

I haven't had the surgery yet however I eat a lot of fast food and I was concerned about this issue...so thanks to all of you for your suggestions and don't worry...I will wait a long time before I try to eat anything "bad".

As a side note, I'm also looking forward to all the money I will save after surgery since I spend approximately $20 a day on food!!!!
