Default Thank you.

I was never told the rules of the pouch, and didint know over half of what I have read here, I can see alot of things now that I have been doing wrong, I am sipping liquid while eatting, and drinking 15 min after, and because meats would tend to make me feel ukkky I would go with soft foods more as well, any how this is really been a huge help to me and iam going to print this and tape it to my bord by my desk , thank you thank you , im trying the cottage cheese test soon .and im going to drink more water, the only thing that worries about the water load thing is my pouch dosent tollorate well cold drinks, it kind of hurts , hot stuff is great , so i tend to drink decaffe coffee all day and not just plan cold water.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi there Connie. Yes room temp or warmer things go down so much better than cold. This is comming from someone who loved ice cold things but found out fast that was a no no right after the surgery.

You have found you cant drink while eating. You need to have that protein in honey so if your stayig away from meats remember it has to be protein your taking in if in liquid form and you can get more liquid in than a more solid source. As for meats make them so tender to eat wet and chew them so very very well. IT will come easier later on. Dont relay on quanity....... right now as much as the quality ok? It lets you keep your hair and feel so much better getting in the stuff you need honey.

Yep this place has a large amount of info on it for people who are not sure how to move forward with their new lifestyle.
I find that the warm liquids seem alot more comforting to me too, but now a little over a year out I am able to start enjoying my iced water again without discomfort.

Time heals, just allow yourself that time and experiment ....

I try to cook my meats in some form of a wet substance, so that I can tolerate it better and won't feel like I have to drink something with it. So either cook with some chicken or beef or vegetable broths, or a friendly gravy really does help the meats go down alot better.
I drink decaf. hot and or ice tea all day long. There is alot of flavoring choices out there to use in the water if you don't enjoy water. But try different things and see, you might find something to your liking if you get bored with drinking the same old thing.
It is important that you get your proteins in everyday, so keep that as your focus no matter if you are eating the proteins or drinking it, you NEED the protein!

HI
My pouch doesn't seem to like cold drinks either but tolerates ice chips and popsicles. LOL. I can feel the cold drink go all the way down and then splash into the my pouch! It's a very odd feeling...doesn't hurt or anything...just feels weird and I don't like it. I have the same problem with the first 3 or 4 bites of food I take too.

Warm or hot drinks don't cause me any problems so I drink a lot of beef and chicken broth!

ETA: I only cook my meats in the crockpot in broth! That appliance has become my BEST FRIEND and the one thing I cannot/will not do without! I'm trying to buy that little 8 oz crock pot called the Little Dipper but so far it seems to you have to buy the combo of the big one and the little one together. I have a 1 quart crock pot but it seems like soooo much food after I cook something in even that one...I would hate to see what it looked like it I used the large one. But since I live alone...I really really want that 8 oz one!

The Crockpot is your friend. Cooking meats via Crockpot provides moisture that aids in eating meats & we need protein first & foremost.

I'm sorry to hear you were never told the pouch rules. There are some surgeons & clinics who do the surgery & send WLS patients on their way w/o post op instructions. I feel sorry for those folks as it really is trial & error & that can be miserable.

You're on the right track now. Keep reading & posting here. We'll get you through :-)
