I'm 10.5 months post-op and lately I've been eating ice cream and chips some. I also am slacking with the walking. Could use encouragement, motivation as well as idease on how to get back on track. Heather

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Default Hello Heather

WELL, I was told that in between the 9th and 12th month after surgery, it's very easy to slip back into your old eating habits. I am not quite there yet so am not sure how is going to be for me. I AM A LITTLE SCARED TO GET THERE. Just keep in the back of your mind, what is the main reason for weight gain? Taking in too many calories, and not burning more than what you have consumed off. Not in some cases, but many. I am sure that you have worked hard up until this point. You just have to stay focused. Don't get me wrong, I have a difficult time sometimes controlling myself to, but then I look at my before pic and BAM!!!!! The light comes on, and I find something else to occupy my mind besides food. HANG IN THERE AND STAY STRONG HEATHER.

Most post ops experience what you are experience within this time frame.
You aren't the only one. Don't beat yourself up over getting off track, but make sure that since you know it isn't helping you, turn that extra energy into getting back on track.

Some articles that may help you.
By CraigT, from Reflections in the main pages of this site.
Lies, Ice Cream and the Department of Energy
The Pouch Rules copied in by LittleLisaMarie.
I have also compiled an index list linking in various articles and threads within the board that might help you.

There are some online sites that may help you, if you haven't tried them.
Many use FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal to keep track of their calories and food choices.
To check what actually are in the foods you eat, try the USDA What's in the Food You Eat Search Tool.

I may have given you a long reading list, but I'm sure these stuff will help you even as you wait for reaction from other members.

Hey...I face those demons every day too. Some days they prick me harder then others. It sounds flip but just walk away from them. Don't give them the time of day. That's what I try and remember to tell myself. LisaMaries pouch rules have helped me lots in the last week or so with any hunger that I have had. I Like what Lisa says above too. That will be my newest mantra.
I always come to this and other sites when I'm having a tough time. I look for positive information and it usually works!!!
