Default How has my eating changed?

How has my eating changed? Now I don't eat 3 large meals I just eat constantly. I hate food. And I've begun hating myself. I have this terrible compulsion to eat all the time. I mean literally up to the minute I go to sleep. In fact, some times I don't go to sleep so I can eat more.

I don't know what to do I want to sit down and cry. I know this sounds stupid and I should be able to control myself but for some reason I can't.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi Rose,

First of all let me be the first to welcome you.

Sounds like you are wrapped up pretty tight kiddo. First thing I would do is agree with me that there is no need to panic. There are several things you can do to start helping with some of these feelings.

One of the most important things you can do, you have just done. You reached out..

Rose, I can only offer the honesty of my own journey over the past 8.5 years.

When I get the non-stop hungries here are some of the things I do:
Increase my protein intake
Increase my water intake

spend some quite time writing about what is all going on in my life. In some case about what is NOT going on in my life.

As you know the hunger is very rarely actual tummy hunger and mostly head hunger. Therefore trying to figure out what is going on in the head and heart is crucial.

I also have a couple of articles I have written that may help. Check out the articles section of this site.

Rose, Again welcome you have come to the right place.

Please do me a favor and Tip the doorman a couple of times each time you visit.

Thanks,

Craig

How do change the way of thinking about food...
Sometimes, I'm not really hungry..But ,knowing that I didn't eat breakfast..I think I'm Hungry ...
Sometimes., it not hungry its more of its 12:00 lunch time!!!
So, I'm hungry!!

It sounds crazy!!!
How do you change the way of thinking about being hungry?
I hope it makes sense!!

I know how you feel. I just started feeling hunger again. Of course sometimes it's real hunger, and sometimes it's head hunger. I find that if I'm bored, I circle the house like a shark looking for something. In the past, prior to WLS, I'd eat myself out of house and home.

Now I drink water, tea, or protein shakes. And then I find an activity. If I'm in panic mode, I do something routine like the wash, the dishes, or something like that. Another good thing to do is to just go outside and walk. Get some fresh air and get your mind out of the kitchen.

I know it's hard. It's really hard, but you can do it. I've tried very hard to have structure in my life. I eat my 3 small meals, drink protein inbetween, and allow myself 1 snack in the late evening. Perhaps that's something you could adapt for yourself.

best of luck!

First of all as you can see from the posts you are not alone. This is a life long struggle with or without surgery. All of the suggestions above are great....I use them and i also make sure i keep good foods around so that if i really need to eat at least i am picking up something that is good for me. One of my lifesavers has been cucumbers. I make sure i have them here all the time. THey are crunchy and even if i have that salty craving i just add a little bit of salt to them and i am good to go. I also try to keep strawberries around for that sweet urge. Nobody is perfect, this is a disease and just like an other its a struggle. Make sure you surround yourself with positive people. Come here and chat like Lisa said, someone is always around. IF you need to add me to your buddy list or email...when you are really feeling down talk to someone. Maybe a therapist or nutionist or support group. There are many resources out there for us we just need to take advantage of them. I would like to give you another {{{HUG}}}. We are here for you.

roseimperato, I hope that everyone elses suggestions help you out some. I just had my surgery Tuesday April 4th and when I got home from the hospital on Thursday night my husband made dinner for the kids and it triggered my hunger instantly. It was so weird because I knew that I was having a difficult time drinking my 3 oz of broth, but it seemed like surely a corn dog would fit...lol. The mind is a very weird thing and it will be hard to get past it. I only hope that I can exhibit the courage and strength that a lot of the people on this board have shown in their challenges. Good luck sweetie, and if nothing else helps, in my case I pray. It is like the poem footsteps, do what you can and when you can't, let Him carry you.
