| How do I know I'm full?
So I just finished a dinner of approx 4 ounces of flounder & crab meat - absolutely delicious. I chewed every piece a million times and tried to take my time although I find I'm still eating a lil too fast.
My question is that I don't know when I'm full until it's too late. Luckily, because I measure my food I'm not sick but I do have a stuff-ish feeling. Even though I'm eating only the amounts I'm supposed to - sometimes it's still too much and I'm too full. Does anyone have any tips?

If you stop in between bites and just sit back for a minute before taking another bite it helps. Plus that 'full' feeling is often just a bit of pressure mid chest for some, my personal full signal is the hiccups!
if we sit over hunched like we did pre op instead of sitting up straight and leaning back in your seat for a minute then you don't get the message so well. Sometimes it just takes time for the cut nerves to heal to start giving that signal again.
What was the post about the 3 bites...and that's about it? 3 bites should be about it.

I get the hick em ups too. I was eating too fast too but am getting better. I notice I am taking time to enjoy the flavors now more where in the past I just inhaled my meals and was uncomfortably full. The full feeling isn't the same as before but I recognize my new full feeling now. Who says you can't teach this old dog new tricks!

I try to only plate 2 oz. of food, and place my utensil down between bites. If I am hungry after the 2 oz. I will add another, but 2oz. 6 times a day is working for me and I do not feel over full or hungry.

First off, you're still only three weeks out of surgery.
Your nerves that relay all sorts of messages from your pouch to the brain and back, haven't healed and realigned and regained all the functions yet.
Have you ever had a relatively seriously injury where your sensation doesn't return quite back to normal for a while? A deep cut that needed sutures, or a broken bone? For the matter, what about the area around your skin incisions? They would be closed by now, but some of it probably is still a bit tender, and if you pull or push at it, you may find it's sore, or, just sorta feels *different*. It's just like that in your pouch, too. The full sensation itself will probably be different, too.
The best way to go about this is measure your food, and *listen* to your pouch--learn how much feels like what. Eventually you will start to understand your pouch.
Some people get hiccups, others burp, other feel a kind of pressure around where their pouch is, are some of the most common feelings described on this board.

I'm so jealous! Why do you get to eat solid food 3 weeks after surgery? I don't get solids for 6 weeks post op! 2 weeks of protien shakke and clear liquids, the next 2 weeks I can add "full liquids", the next 2 weeks I can add puree and then finally solids!

| Solid Foods I am just 8 days past surgery and I am on pureed foods or if you are at a resturant smashed/mashed food. It is wonderful. It is keeping me from doing great bodily harm to someone (my husband). I was only put on full liquids for a week. I am feeling wonderful.
I hope you get it straightend out with your Doctor. Quote:

Every surgeon has his/her individual program based on their experiences with their patients. Every one needs to follow his/her surgeon's instructions, whether it's liquids for 3 months, or solid food the first day out.
It's really interesting and informative and educational how much different all the programs are, but, no matter what the program, if you don't follow your surgeon's program, your surgeon won't be able to help you out with your issues, and look out for you, help you succeed.
