Arrow carbs

Ok..... so now that I know oatmeal is high carb and I will have to figure something else out. All of this has got me thinking..... what is the carb intake amount? In normal life people try to stay under 250 carbs a day. What about WLS patients? What is the limit? How many are you allowed? Since your pouch is little, and you won't be able to eat a lot anyway dont you have to have some carbs? I need some clarification on this one. Any help will be appeciated

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

MY surgeon says 100 grams a day but i know for me and my carb addiction and eating issues to keep my cravings in control i need to lay off them!!!! THEY cause me to get my uncontrollable eating...even post op...but of course this didnt start for me till well over a year.

SO for me i follow the atkins rules for my carb intake its the only way for me. We are all different.

BUT again my surgeon and his nutritionist are okay with 100 grams a day which goes fast!

Hope that helps im sure doc will add her wonderful views.

In the basic diet, the recommended amount is at least 130g a day. This is due to the fact that your brain cells can only process glucose for energy, except in very dire conditions.

However, no food that we have, has only one nutrient in it, and the way food is grouped is what their major nutrient is. So, even if you take, say, protein food, you are also going to get some fat and carb from it. That said, even with Lisa's surgeon saying 100g carbs, most people who calculate their food and keep the carb foods at 100g, likely are getting some more from non-carb food, and clearing the 130 without realising.
You need to be especially careful of refined carbs, and get your carb requirement in through complex carb foods.
