| thirsty!
Now that I have started purees, I've started the practice of waiting for 30 minutes after eating to drink. 30 minutes of torture. I am so thirsty after I eat and I am watching the clock until I can have that glorious sip of water and then I sip as much as I can until the thirst passes. |

hey,
I know it is difficult but believe it or not.. you get use to having to wait to drink... but you are still early in the recovery stages so it will be difficult.
Hang in there..... you will be fine...

Try to drink more fluids between meals and stay away from salt and spicy foods rights now so you are not tempted. This has been the hardest rule for me to follow, however, my doctor said if you need a mini-sip it is ok, just do not sip sip sip. ALERT! however, I try to follow this rule to the fullest, and yes it does get easier. I even switched my snacks to liquids (protein shake, 50% less sugar Tropicanna OJ, etc) so I am only waiting that agonizing 30 minutes 3 times a day and not 5-6! It is so hardddddddd.
Stand Strong! because if you arn't, it can stretch your pouchie, and after that surgery, you do not want to do that!

| I am having the same problem
I am finding it really hard because in between I am finding it difficult to consume the liquid I need. This sip sip sip is hard on an A type personality who is used to doing ten things at once and drinking is not one of them.

Make sure that your 'puree' isn't FRUIT based as that makes it so much harder on you. Fruit is carby and can make you hungrier in between times. The purees need to be protein based as best you can ..
Use a count down timer and try doing something in between that time of finishing up and drinking. You'll find the time goes by quickly instead of sitting around waiting for the timer to go off!

I don't have any problem with hunger between meals. I could go a whole day without eating no problem. I eat because I have to. It's the thirst!
My current puree has chicken, sweet potato and apple (very little apple in relation to the chicken and sweet potato) 7g of protein per 2 oz.

Rainbows end I second your opinion. If I could guzzle down my water so I could get on to other things I would be all set.
Mangomelon have you tried rinsing your mouth? It helped me a lot when I was in the hospital.

Rinsing my mouth is an interesting suggestion. I'll give it a try! Thanks!
