| Stage 5 Diet
My Surgeon has released me to the Stage 5 Diet (Last Phase) as of yesterday. I think now I should be able to start introducing veggies and bread and pasta back into my diet (I have no room for this stuff right now honesty, but I will try to add a few bites...).
I do have a question though about snacks. Does anybody know if I could tolerate Microwave Popcorn (The Lite kind)? I thought I read somewhere that corn, broccolli, fruit skins, popcorn, all that stuff might not be well tolerated just yet.... I am like 6 weeks out at this point.... I REALLY miss having Popcorn!

If it's on your list, and if you really miss it, take a bite, chew chew chew and ask your pouch if it likes it |

I would stay away from bread and pasta for now. It has no protein and it just takes up space in your pouch. Stick to lean proteins and you will have better results.

Slow down, grasshoppah! lol
You are like a weaning baby right now...you don't know what your pouch or body will tolerate and it can rebel bigtime if you push it. Try a BITE of a new food for a couple days to see how you handle it before introducing another food. It will take MONTHS before you have tried all your old favorites, but let that happen slowly so you can still enjoy a weight loss at a decent speed.
I eat popcorn pretty much every day. Popcorn is chock full of polyphenols which are found to be bursting with healthy goodness.
That being said, I only eat popcorn I pop myself in the microwave with, well, popcorn (the cheaper the better) and olive oil. I don't know what is in that lite bagged stuff but my way I know exactly what is in the product and it is way cheaper per serving.
I am that way with bread as well. I grind my own flour. I know...that is extreme...but I can really make my bread consumption COUNT when I know exactly what is in it.

Judijo, I have certainly found that you were right on target with your advice on going slow and trying one new food at a time. I am still trying to do this, but it's been hard. It makes it impossible to know what you have eaten that did not agree with you if you eat more than one new thing at a time.
John, bread & pasta still do not agree with me. I had actually pretty much quit eating that stuff more than 6 months ago anway, (Bread, pasta, rice, potatoes - That's how I lost a good part of the 35 lbs. prior to my surgery I think), so I don't much miss those things. Toast and crackers seem to agree with me. The popcorn, along with strawberries and watermelon seem to also pretty much agree with me... Thanks for your advice.

Adele,
I've also been given permission to add bread/some soft pastas. I decided to stay away from pasta as long as I can cause I know that's a huge pig out food for me.
I did find Sara Lee Hearty & Delicious bread that has 5 g of protein for 1 slice. I've been having this along with peanut butter daily for breakfast. Not only did it break up my cottage cheese monotony, but it also helped the constipation.
Good luck - I'm way too afraid to try popcorn, but I have tried low fat wheat thins as a snack - that was on my list.
