At 7 months out I have finally fallen into a drinking routine.....LOL....I get inbetween 90 and 100 ozs every day as long as I stick to my schedual, my days off are a bit harder, but my routine is as follows, 25 ozs between breakfast and lunch, 16 ozs at about 4 pm, another 16 ozs at 8 pm, then another 16 ozs at 10pm. When I get home at 11:30 pm I drink another 25 ozs. That's a mixture of plain water and CL or diet tea, sometimes I have more but that is my usual drinkage....LOL
It helps to have a schedual.

I had some renal function issues at around seven months out that were resolved by upping my fluid intake so I make a concerted effort to stay properly hydrated.
That said I hate drinking water, for me water was just for washing in, so I have to drink the flavoured sugar free stuff from Volvic. I get through three litres a day plus of course the regulation gallon of coffee.
I find if I pour the water into a sports sippy bottle it makes me more inclined to drink it, I guess its a guy thing I feel more comfy with the nipple in my mouth but it works for me

Originally Posted by SummerBreeze ... You know - "for best results, read and follow directions"? Maybe it's an engineer thing, but I'm just unimaginative enough to think that if these principles have worked for thousands of others, maybe if I follow them they'll work for me?
When I get up and dressed and such, I need to take my morning pills, so I use a small glass of V8 to do that and get a serving of veggies. If I'm driving, I'll take a liter bottle with me and drink it en route. If I'm riding, I reward myself for once again cheating death by downing a liter at work. (It helps to have a small fridge that'll hold a case of 1/2-liter bottles. I also have a small stash of rations in the bottom two drawers of one of my file cabinets.)
I head to class at 10:00. They are two-hour lectures, and the kids get twitchy by halftime, so I take a liter with me and use it to pace the breaks. If I need a break, I figure the guys with the super-sized Dews will too. So by noon I have two liters down, it's been about 45 minutes since I drained the last one, and I can go to lunch. Sometime in the afternoon I'll fix another liter, or maybe take a bottle with me for the drive home.
Sometime in the evening when the munchie monster calls me, I drown him with another round, maybe 20 ounces, maybe a liter - it all depends.
I'll usually get up around 2:00 AM to get rid of the last of it, but I get over it quickly.
So that's how I do it. The key is to fit it into your schedule in a natural way so that it isn't a burden. It's something you have to do, but if it's not a regular part of the daily activities, the odds of success are reduced.

| That's exactly how I feel. If it becomes part of your routine then it'll become second nature and you'll just do it, it's easier not to have to think about it all the time.

This is the one area of my weight loss process that I am totally out of whack following. I drink less 1 year after surgery than I drank before surgery.
Mind you I keep bottles of water in my car and drink when driving but find that I just don't want to drink during the day and therefore don't consume that much.
Immediately after surgery I always had water by my side and made certain in the first 6 months to drink, drink, drink but that has changed. My work routine has changed, my appetite for getting in fluids has changed and I recognize that this is the one part of the process that I need to get back on track.
Mind you I don't measure the quantities of what I drink in a day but I am smart enough to know that I am a far cry from what I should be taking in.
Physically I feel fantastic. I do more, I continue to loose weight and tone my body and am very active. I never get or feel dehydrated despite sweltering heat this summer and remain active inside and outside in this heat.
Maybe I absorb the humidity and that makes up for drinking less? (Just kidding!)
I will try to get on this and drink more.

Having a routine definitely helps a lot! I am a water addict and when I'm at work/home I'll get 2 to 3 liters a day easily, so I don't even need to count milk, yogurt, etc. Now on vacation, no routine, different house, I admit I'm struggling a bit...
