Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | please ......... i need help with my food, more specifically with protein. ill be 6 weeks out on wed and i still cannot put any and i do mean any meat into my diet. right now all i really eat is salad with a slice of cheese in it for lunch generally and usually soup for dinner. breakfast is 4 times out of 7 skipped because i am so sick i cannot eat it but when i do i try for cereal or 1 scrambled egg but i usually cannot eat the whole thing. im barely getting any protein here and i dont know what to do about it, i try to put cheese in where i can i also try to add in cottage cheese, protein shakes usually do not stay down if i can even get them to go down to begin with. as ive said before my surgeon is over 5 hrs away so i cannot just up and see him, i do communicate via email, he says hopefully the nausea will pass, but thats not very encouraging. another problem i have is that i find myself hungry quite often lately and thats very scary, i find that sometimes my portions of salad or soup might be larger than they should be ( not at all to say that they are a full bowl or anything like that ) and i also find myself snacking through the day on crackers sometimes for the nausea and sometimes because i am hungry ........ is there any advise out there about the protein and also about being hungry through the day and how to deal with it and also how to get rid of or at least control better the nausea????? thanks so much ................. kathy

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | (((HUGS))))kathy i know your surgeon isnt local but if food isnt staying down it may be a problem and a scope is needed to rule things out. PLEASE try a phone consult with him i do worry dearly of you. WHEN you say shakes dont stay down I do fear a stricture for you. SOMETIMES doctors do put patients on precriptions when there is alot of nausaus but if they dont know they cant help you. I know what you mean about needing food to feel better could u maybe have the early signs of an ulcer post op??? I know for me i felt icky when had nothing in my stomach and didnt learn for almost a year that it was an ulcer when it had a bleed. I now take OTC previcid and all signs gone. so many possibilities but you have to speak to the doctor and let him figure it out. OUR pouchies are fussy. I know took me 18 months to finally be able to eat salads! and one day a food works the next it dont its funny and hard at times hang in there hugs lisa xoxox

| Super Moderator | Hami, I agree with Lisa, I think you need to be seen by your surgeon, or, since he is pretty far away, have him refer you to a local gastroentrologist who can scope you. The sooner the better. ((((((((HUGS)))))))

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Try tuna fish. I eat alot of tuna. I get those little 3 oz cans with crackers and mayo and relish and eat it for lunch. I can't always finish it but it is very high in protein. I also ate lots of soup. I like chinese soup, hot and sour and egg drop. I fished the black stuff out at first. At 1 year I can eat almost everything, though in a small amount. I cannot eat any red meat or spagetti. Sometimes I can eat something one day and not the left overs the next day. Any over 1 year folks out there? I seem to have stopped losing altogether. I have increased my exercising. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Oh, I forgot. My doc says don't even bother with salads - there is no protein or enough vitamins. He wouldn't let us have cheese for the 1st 6 months. I ate lots of mashed potatoes at first. His diet was very restrictive but I had no problems. |
