Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Ok...this may be more of a vent than anything... I had my 6 month checkup yesterday and it went well. My surgeon is happy with my loss. Then he was asking what I eat in a typical day, etc... Well, I have never been good at eating first thing in the morning. I don't like it, it doesn't feel good, I'm not hungry. I usually will eat like 1/2 a yogurt or a tsp. of peanut butter just so I have something in my stomach because I know I'm supposed to. My surgeon told me not to do that anymore. That if I really want to lose, that I need to eat solid food for breakfast. He said to eat like 1/4 of a bagel or something. What happened to pushing the protein??? I don't really like bread since my surgery so I'll try it but I really don't want to be stuck eating things I don't like. Sometimes I mix protein powder with sf pudding. I didn't tell him that...LOL My surgeon does not believe in supplements after 7 weeks out. He wants us to get all our protein from whole foods. I suppose I could just eat breakfast later in the day and eat something solid but I thought that for good metabolism we should eat within an hour after waking? So I want to know...What do you guys eat for breakfast? What works for you guys??? ~Christine

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | During the week it is easier for me to do the protein suppliments. BUT, I have been known to eat eggs. 1 egg pretty much fills me up. On those more hungry mornings i have 1 egg and a lowfat meat( mostly on the weekends) breads and cereals were and are still a bit touchy for me. I do better with a crackers. If I could eat shrimp for brekky I would. High protein and at least i can digest it.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Goodmorning, When i wake in the am i have my coffee with protein added to it. That is usually about 6am...Then i try to have an egg, usually scramled with swiss at about 9 or 10 depending on the day and if i am hungry or not. I try to have either half a banana or some strawberries with it as well. SOme days i have bread but try to stay away from it if possible. It is however best to get your protein from real foods. My surgeons office as well does not believe in supplements after the initial stages. I however add the protein powder to make myself feel better about having that coffee lol... Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I am 3 yrs out-nearly--I still drink a shake first thing in the morning---then coffee--then my morning yoga---then bfast--which for me could be anything---I love food first thing in the morning---but hate breakfast type foods---I've been known to sit down to leftovers from dinner the night before---- earthgirl---i've eaten shrimp for bfst---got a great recipe for a shrimp egg salad that is perfect for bfst Have you ever tried coddled eggs----when I was a new post op---I couldn't tolerate any other type of egg but the coddled ones went down wonderfully since I'm a low-carber---no breads, cerals or that stuff for me--- |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | For those who eat cereal what kinds do you eat. I hadn't been able to eat any cereal for the longest time then the other morning i put some Cheerios on top of my strawberries with a little low fat milk and it went down great and tasted so good. But I know the Cheerios have carbs.. so was just wondering what others are eating. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I eat 1 cup of Special K High Protein cereal, it is great and agrees with my pouch, giving me a start of 10 grams of protein from the cereal and a bit from the milk, usually throw away any remaining milk. It tastes slightly sweet. Of course, my mornings, are after being awake all night working graveyard, then off to bed!
