Unhappy I will NEVER drink another protein shake!!

I am soooo frustrated I don't know what to do!!!!!!! I've been pushing through my days making myself eat and I was starting to feel a little better (not as nauseated) so this morning I made a protein shake for breakfast. Max Protein, ice, a little water and 1% milk - and I DUMPED on it!!!! Here I sit at work sick as a dog --> and diarrhea!!! AAAGGGHHH!!! My NUT says I should always have a protein shake in hand and my surgeon says I don't have to drink protein shakes! What do I do if I can't even keep food down to try to get the protein?!?!?!! Ohhhh, the regrets I have over this surgery!!!!!!!!!!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I hear you loud and clear. The protein drinks....well this is in print so I will say.... "stink." (I have other choice words.)
There are some w/o whey. Maybe that bothers your stomach?
The bad part is being at work.
Have you tried Probiotic Pearls? Look at Walgreens if you aren't near a health food store.
THey have saved me from the horrors of diarrhea.
Good luck and keep posting. Let me know how it goes.
I feel for you.

I still can't drink them either....recently started eating protien bars instead. For me, seems if I get more than 15 - 20g at one sitting I get into trouble with my tummy. Bars are working but have to eat them slowly.

I never drank protein drinks; I tried one it tasted awful, never had another one. I got my protein from yogurt, cheese, refried beans and now that I am able to eat meat, I get it from meat. My blood tests have always been great. I don't know if I am just different. You are less than a month out, I couldn't eat a lot when I was there, I had to make my self eat on a schedule, and then when I did eat, I couldn't eat more than a few bites.
Have you tried the different kinds of protein drinks, from what I hear there are protein powders for those that are lactose intolerant and powders made of egg protein.
I hope that you get worked it worked out. It sounds like you are having a horrible time of this.

Maybe it's the milk, have you tried lactose free milk?
I wasn't cleared to drink milk until I was 6 months out, I don't drink "real" milk though I use the lactose free kind.

Sunflower - it has nothing at all to do with the milk. I am not lactose intolerant - I'm just having a reaction to the soy whey protein.

you should try the "nectar chocolate truffle from the vitamen shoppe. It is really good and i didnt like many of the protein drinks either.....the vitamen shoppe has alot of good ones there was a tropical juice one that was really good too , it tasted like orange juice......hope you find one cause trying to get all your protein in when your pouch is so new is hard without the protein drinks. And please dont regret your surgery it will be ok i promise it gets better than this , when the pounds start flying off and you start feeling "normal" again you will be soooo glad and happy that you are one of the most fortunate ones allowed to have this surgery!!!!

Good luck

much love
mary

You really regret this surgery? I'm sorry...I just don't understand that. Maybe you are just talking and don't really mean it, but I am surprised that you would go through all the pre-op hoops and regret the surgery.

Laughing painter,
How much of the refried beans did you eat at a time? 2 oz?
Were they "right from the can"? I think I would like them better than protein drinks and I know they are high in protein.
Thanks.

Likearock, I've not had a "good" day since my surgery and that was Jan. 31st. Maybe it was because of the complications (my surgery took an extra 2 hours) of the surgery or maybe it's because my pouch doesn't like ANYTHING I put in it. As of today YES, I do regret having had the surgery. Ask me in a month I might have a different answer, but as of right now, this whole experience has been miserable.
