| Boy, I'd love to chew!
I had my surgery two weeks ago and all is well but I am beginning to miss chewing. My nutritionist requires 21 days on full liquids post op (after two days of clear liquids immediately post op) and I still have a week of it... I'm not hungry... the protein sucks but I'm doing *ok* with the powders... I am complying but man, I'm beginning to long to chew and swallow food. Just for different flavors. I drink a lot of protein smoothies and everything is sweet, I'd really like something savory (broth...I know, I know).
How long post op did you have to wait before eating?

I went to stage 3 today - 8-10 days post-op. Stage 3 for my surgen is the mush stage. Everything in the blender. This stage lasts for me for 4 weeks but everything can go in a blender. I wonder why you have to wait so long?

Why can't you have broth? I loved Campbell's chicken noodle soup, no noodle. It was so fulfilling.
Chewing..hmmm sf ice pops or ice chips right now. That's about it.
the day after surgery and for 7 days-clear liquids
then 2 weeks full liquids- yogurt, cottage cheese, creamy soup, and cereal wet w milk.
then 1 week pureed food
then 1 week soft food and slowly try new things.
I think it was 3 months out before I tried a salad. and I did ok with it at that time.
Maybe 4 or 5 months before I tried pasta or rice. (Rice was the last thing.)
Good luck.
It seems like so long ago now... the days are long and the months are short.

Every surgeon has developed a unique program based on what they have found to work with the way they do WLS. You must follow what your doctor tells you, not what anyone here may have experienced with some other surgeon. Mine had a bit more aggressive schedule for getting back to real food, but you have to live the rules you've been given.

Hmm...first follow your dr.'s rules. My dr. had me eating puree foods fairly soon. I am 11wks out and have issues with food. I kinda wished my dr. would have had your approach with food. I think it was all to fast for me. Hang in there, you will eat again Just listen to your body and dr.

I missed chewing to first few weeks. SF Popsicles saved me I would chew them instead of sucking on them.

LOL I can't help but think about all the posts I've seen from people who complain about having to chew food to death before they dare swallow. Our jaws get tired long before the food is chewed enough - especially meat. You're going to regret you said this

Haha, Barbie!
Yes, you're right, I just need to listen to the medical people. It's amazing how all of our instructions were so different.
