Butterfly,
It depends on your protein powder. Some can't be mixed with hot stuff because the heat makes it clump up. You can put it in applesauce or other cold, sort of wet foods. The kind I tried (Unjury) had a scoop and I was supposed to have a whole scoop to get my protein. Mixing that with just a 1/4 cup of applesause or cottage cheese or whatever just didn't work because it overpowered the food. I even tried making granola bars with it and was kind of successful though I could still "taste" it.
IMHO work at getting all your protein from real food so you can dump the protein powder. Yuckky stuff.

When you mix protein powder, make sure you mix it into cold liquids/food, mix well then warm them, because protein hardens with heat, and will clump up as NQ Barbie says.

I like to mix the protein powder in plain greek yogurt; good way to get 34g of protein in a serving of yogurt.
I mix Unjury chicken flavor into my homemade tomato soup. Unjury has a recipe for putting the chicken flavor into mashed potatoes, which defeats the purpose of being low carb.
Unjury also has recipes for protein powder pudding pops. I've tried adding protein powder to instant sugar free pudding, but the taste was off to me. Instant pudding is full of corn-derived food additives anyway, so not the best thing for us to eat.
The main way I drink my protein shakes is in coffee.

I've added unflavored whey isolate protein to foods for years. Generally, prepare any heated food. Once serving is in bowl, add the protein powder. I've added to oatmeal, veg. refried beans, chili, soups, etc. For cold items, I've used it to make my own shakes, add to SF pudding, etc. And yes, if you put protein powder into a food or water heated on the stove, you'll end up with "rubber bullets" in your food--it won't blend well. I've also made protein coffee. Mix some protein powder in a small amount of water, so it's like a creamer consistency. Pour your decafe coffee. Stir in the watery protein and stir with spoon. DAVE

I mix 2 tablespoons of the dry vanilla whey protein in my oatmeal after I microwave it. It gives it a sweet flavor and it's a good way to get more protein in my diet.

I have been unable to get the protein shakes down since my surgery so I tried adding chocolate protein powder to my decaf ice coffee spalsh of skim milk and I have a very taste mocha ice coffee! Takes me a good 6 hours to drink a medium so I started adding it to a small and if I can get 2 down thats my protein for the day !

Sounds good, I'll have to try that myself! I drink the SF Carnation Instant Breakfast, its 1 pkg. to one cup of milk. It takes me a couple of hours or longer to get it down. I usually end up putting ice in it to keep it cold and I don't ever finish it b/c after a while I don't like the taste.

Another suggestion is the "double milk" recipe. Take 8oz of skim milk and add 1/3 cup non-fat dry milk powder to it. Use it in any recipe you make with milk such as SF pudding or if you use Carnation inst breakfast that will increase the protein to 21g. The double milk recipe is 16g of protein alone. You can also use this for protein shakes. If you are able to eat a scrambled egg, mix a little double milk in before cooking the egg..increased protein!!
