| Re: Another great Poo debacle
Aloha,
My reason for being on here is another great Poo related concern. If the answer is already on here I am sorry for the repost but I have not seen this on here yet.
My diet consists mostly of meats and protiens. I am 10 months out around 165-175 down. I do eat a lot of salads ang veggies as well because when I snack id rathe eat a low calorie salad then meat. I try to eat green leafy one rather then just lettuce.
When I had my morning "movement" I noticed that there was a lot of green leafy salad parts in the water floating around. It looked almost as if I dumped a chopped up plate of greens in there. Before I would have a few peices of something like that in there or algea looking stuff, but this time it was a lot and I was just worried if there could be something else wrong.
I googled it and it could be a case of IBS or just that I did not chew enough, however the peices were small.
Any thoughts or comments if you have expereinced anything similar would be appreciated.
Mahalo!

Aloha! I'm not a doctor, but my best guess is that you just don't absorb and process the bulk/fiber as you used to. I wouldn't worry if your aren't experiencing pain/bloating/gas/bleeding, etc. IBS is very uncomfortable and you'd know if you had it. I hope that helps ease your mind!

Your intenstines are bypassed, which means you have less length to process the fibers, which take a lot of processing. Chew chew chew till mush especially with the fiber laden veggies. Lettuce especially, actually. There are some surgeons who say "no" to their patients eating lettuce just because of this issue.

This doesn't surprise me. I had similar experience before surgery, and now I can't even eat lettuce. It sits in my stomach and clogs up the works. Doesn't seem to matter how much I chew. At this point, it's the only thing I've found that I can't really eat on my recommended foods list. It's a bit of a bummer because salads with grilled chicken seem like a healthy option - but they are still a no go, at least for now.

I have only had a bite or two of salad since surgery. Mainly because there is no protein value. I focus on trying to get all the protein I can first.
