| PostOp non-sweet meal ideas?
This forum really needs a section devoted to food It's kind of like whistling past the grave yard, but you still got to eat. It seems like a lot of people must have a sweet tooth, b/c most of the post op recipes/meal ideas are for sweet dishes. The only thing my doc recommended that was remotely appealing was ricotti cheese with 2 tsp of spagetti sauce.
I also ate a scrambled egg. I tried some fat free cottage cheese with a tsp of fat free italian dressing, which i also liked.
What do you guys eat when you don't want a fruity protein shake?

Tuna, cottage cheese, string cheese, beans (like black beans and rice), eggs. Some of that you may not be able to have yet, but that's where I go for protein. I swear this process has been like childbirth..I've forgotten how cruddy those first weeks were

plain greek yougurt with imitation flavoring found in the baking aisle. I like cherry or raspberry.

Cream soups from my doc's approved list, also cottage cheese with a squirt of mustard mixed in.

I'm with you on the not liking sweet stuff. I started pureeing everything. Any kind of meat that I thought I would like went into the blender with a little chicken broth - looked kind of nasty but tasted just fine. The key is to get it ground up enough and moist enough.
Try a pinch of chedder cheese on those scrambled eggs.
A pinch of mozzarella cheese and a dribble of salsa on refried beans.
Once you can do solids, roll some deli meat around a small slice of cream cheese.
Try baking mini quiches in mini muffin pans. Whip some eggs with milk, add onion, grated cheese, seasoning, anything else that sounds good. Spray the pans so it doesn't stick and bake until the tops turn brown. You can freeze them and get out just a couple at a time.
