Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hi everyone! Just looking for an answer or your opinion.... I had surgery 4 weeks ago and and last week/this week (following my docs/nutritionists plan) started eating soft fruits/veggies, eggs, ect. One of the 'approved' foods on my list is any baked, well cooked white fish. I was excited by this because i LOVE seafood. However, once i got fresh haddock and cooked it-not so much in love anymore Everything went down ok, i just didn't prefer the taste. However, one of my fav foods before surgery was baked/broiled scallops. I have a follow-up with my doc at the end of this week and will question this with him, also. But, does anyone see a problem with eating a baked scallop? No butter, of course Opinions, please.... Thanks in advance!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | i think you're supposed to wait for scallops, shrimp those seafood textures. I was just "graduated" to this stage and i dont really eat fish at all but i was told that it should be the type of fish that flakes. Everyone's surgeon instructions are different though. fact of the mater is, you wont know what you can tolerate until you try it....I'm sorry if that wasnt much help. Still learning here! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | i know for me it had to be a flaky type fish the kind thats falling apart and i feel the scallop doesnt fall into that category. THEY feel we wont chew chew chew enough and cause u to get something stuck or even cause vomit. I am thinking you should phone the office and run it by them but im thinking a no on the scallops. YOU will find your tastes and likes will be completely different post op..... GOOD LUCK! and keep up the great work
