Unhappy Help, What have I done?

I am a new post op gastric bypass patient. I am in my 2nd week, and I am miserable. If I have another can of soup I will just die. What have i done to myself? I have never been so depressed, and all I do is cry. I feel like a big wuss! I read all the material, and I knew what to expect....but I cant get over this feeling. I feel sort of sick everytime I eat something, and every commercial on tv is about food! I dream about it. All I think about is the food I cant have and will never be able to have again. I dont mean to be a party pooper and bring everyone down, but is this normal? Why am I feeling like this? Will it end? If youve ever felt this way, please let me know if there is an end in site. I'm starting to get desperate.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Im Sorry Im Still Pre-op So I Cant Say I Understand. But From I Have Seen Other Memebers Experience On This Board Its Normal To Go Thru This. Think Of Mourning For A Best Friend That Has Just Passed Away. In Time You Will Be Able To Move On. It Takes Time. Ill Prey For You Though.

Stay Strong

I understand what you are feeling. I mourned food for 2 to 3 months post op. I'd cry and wonder what in the heck I had done. Also, I can vividly recall family dinners with everyone chowing down and me with a tiny bit of yogurt or meat. I've learned to live without food being the center of my universe. Now I am at goal for well over 7 months, and enjoy a new hobby called shopping for clothes. I know it's very very hard for you at the moment. Just take a deep breath, journal or post here to keep yourself sane, and know that we all are sending (((huge hugs))). You can do this and will be able to eat more of a variety of foods over time. Take care! Amy

I am still pre-op also so I can't say I understand. However, you just went through a major life change. It is always scary especially when you can't go back and you don't feel the way you think you should. After I had my daughter I went through severe depression. I was sick because I wasn't suppose to fell that way. My life should have been complete and whole I had a baby. It took a while (therapy and zoloft) but I made it through. Depression and change are very scary. Hold on and please don't be afraid to seek professional help. You are never alone.

Leighsey, oh how I relate. I was so sick of jello, then soup, then yogurt and carnation instant breakfast and cream of wheat(COW) that I could scream. I cried every time a meal came around. Now I am 3 1/2 months out and right now I hate everything 'chicken', can't stomach scrambled eggs or omlettes and really have a time getting ground beef down. But I look marvelous.....and the compliments and looks are SO WORTH IT. tHE BEST THING THAT HAS BEEN SAID TO ME SO FAR...MY GRANDDAUGHTER ASKED ME WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BUTT. Is that not precious? And she was sincere. Oh leighsey..her name is Llici...yep...pronounced them the same. This is so worth it...it just a little sacrifice before the wonderful reward. Hang in there my friend. We all have been there and made it through and you will in turn offer your experiences to those on the other side. BY THE WAY...WELCOME TO THE LOSERS BENCH...we're all glad you are here.

promise ya you're gonna get through this. One thing very important is to make SURE you are getting enough water in to stay hydrated. That can add a HUGE amount to feeling depressed. Believe me I know that one well!

Feeling sick when you eat..make sure that the soups you are eating do NOT have corn syrup in them. A lot of brands of the cream soups DO. Which will make you feel nauseous.

you'll get through to the other side of us, we've all been there !!

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on joining the Loser's Bench.
And, oh, yes, the "what have I done????" roller coaster emotions are quite normal, everyone goes through it, though the degree may vary, and what people admit may vary, too.
So, you are off to a very good start.
Hang in there, take it one day at a time, and the day will add up to a week, the weeks to months, and the months to years, and one day, like the others, you'll look back and say, yes, it was very hard, and yes, it was a lot of hard work, but every moment was worth it all, as that is where it will take you to where you need to be.

(((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.

You have come to the right place to express your feelings. You know how fast time passes. To the point sometimes it is scary. Well this will pass too. I also am a little over 2 weeks out. 19 days to be exact. I went through what you are feeling at times and some days still do. You cannot rush it though. I was approved this Monday to go to stage 3, soft food now including meat. But sue to something stupid I did I am back to liquids for a few days. It is hard watching TV and every time a food commercial comes on I mute it and read something inspiring or leave the room. But we also have DVR recording and purposely do that so mostly I only watch what I have recorded and skip the commericals. It all seems to help.

You are not going through anything that probably 99% of WLS patients have. I know most of us here have anyway. Just know it will pass. Someday you will look back and know that you did the right thing and life will be good. We just have to practice patience. Good luck and glad you are here. Mattie
