Title says it all what boxed breakfast cereals can we eat. I am now over 9 weeks out and been eating what some call normal food. but finding it hard to find something to eat that dont seem to give me upset tummy. Chicken, beef, pork to stringy it seems Fish to dry bout the only thing I can eat is beans ground beef and cheese without any problems. and I am getting really tired of that. Scrambled eggs also seem to cause tummy ach in the sence it seem to get caught on the out side of my tummy. I just want some food that I can eat and feel like a normal person ...

i was told i could have cheerios, but they dont sit well with me. truth is, i think you can eat anything as long as it is whole grain and under 6g of sugar per serving. Dont hold me to that tho lol! im sure doc will be in shortly. have you tried oatmeal yet? i do very well on those and have for some time. i did the LOW SUGAR flavored ones, maple and brown sugar and apples and cinamon. i can only eat about half a packet though. with the meats, try stewing them. the chicken and a can of cream of mushroom soup in a crock pot and slow cook it. beef use canned cravy of beef stock. i find meat sits a little better with me when slow cooked. it has to be tender enough to fall apart in order for me to eat it without problems. you could also try tuna fish, chicken salad and egg salad all in low fat mayo. if i think of anything else i'll let you know Last edited by Kenyar; 07-28-2007 at 06:01 PM.. Sorry you are having a hard time with food, everything will be trial and error, especially early out. You will eventually be able to eat a variety of food without having problems. Check out the Gastric Bypass Recipe forum for ideas. There's some posts with threads there to other recipe sites. With Cereals, choose those that are whole grain and without refined sugar or refined carbs added to it. I was thinking the other day, that marinading meat and chicken might help? May be one of the reasons you have a hard time with meat etc is because you have to chew, chew, chew. Before surgery, I wonder if you were chewing as well. (Someone else in another thread mentioned that she had never chewed that well pre op.) Chewing the food many times will bring out the inner flavor of the food that didn't come out with a few chews then gulping it down. It's like the first, second, and third note in fragrances. You actually get layers of taste when you chew food thoroughly, and those second and third tastes, you aren't used to, and are turned off. So, maybe marinading the meat etc. will help, as it seeps the taste in, and stabilizes the layers of taste. Just a thought here.

i had and still have issues with those, and actually any dry cereal i have tried. they tell you to let it get soggy which defeats the purpose lol. They dont make me sick or anything, but they just kind of sit there. i am actually into oatmeal moreso now than ever before in life lol. goes down smoothe and is comforting at times.... cereal is also tricky like soup. is it considered eating and drnking at the same time or not?? who knows....its all trial and error at this point for sure. |

I ate Rice Krispies the other day, they were lovely. I also tried Special K. I let them sit in milk for awhile before I ate them and it was so good. I also eat oatmeal, the Weight Control Banana Bread and Maple Sugar. I am like Kenya and can only eat 1/4 to 1/2 the pack of oatmeal. My daughter usually shares.

I wouldnt do most cereals because of to many carbs even in the healthy varieties. MOST dont have enough protein but there is a special K and KASHI brand that had some protein that i think i tried once. JUST dont like a food like cereal for us as it isnt dense enough to fill us up then we can start eating to much of it..... FOR me most breakfasts were either a protein shake or lofat cottage cheese. AND further out i put soy nuts in my cottage cheese. GOOD LUCK finding a cereal for yourself and remember to chew chew chew to a applesauce consistency the meats you mention that arent doing well with you. MAKE sure foods are cooked to a moist condition not dry and well done! HUGS you will get the hang of eating your still very early out.

I have not had any cereal at all. I hate oatmeal so I can not even think about that. My nut allows me to eat a little grits with my eggs as long as I put some cheese in it to help with protein. Roz
