Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Several labels I've read lately said they were "No Sugar Added" but then had Sugar Alcohols listed on the ingredients label with an asterik(*). That indicated on one that it was naturally occuring lactose sugar alcohols? I found this in the ready to go CIB at the store as well as several of the yogurts and the No Sugar Ice Cream. Anyone know about this -- is this something to avoid?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | FOR me i take them big time into consideration when looking at an item and count that as a sugar too. I do find the products with the sugar alchols more become a laxative to me and when i needed a good cleaning out i would use a product with some to help. THERE evil and trigger cravings so keep an eye on them.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | i agree you should count them as sugar. i believe some people dump off of them as well. |

| Super Moderator | Sugar alcohols are often added as sweetners in place of sugar. When you are nutrition and calorie counting, count them the same as sugar. Also, there are post ops who become intolerant to sugar alcohols, and yup, they can cause dumping, too.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Okay -- now that's an interesting twist on ingredients. I guess I still have a lot to learn about what eating will be like after my surgery!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Good to know -- I am learning so much. I really appreciate the input and advice. I read labels before, but never in conjunction with what will likely be life long dietary changes in my eating abilities -- so this is very helpful. I guess I will enjoy that No Sugar Added before I go in and afterwards it is off the list! Thanks!
