| Help! Going out to dinner Saturday night!!!
I can't believe it. I have a DATE Saturday night with a guy I met a couple of weeks ago. He wants to take me to Johnny Carino's which is a country italian restaurant. He knows that I had gastric bypass a month ago and am restricted as to what I can eat. I went online and checked out the menu. This is what I have picked out to eat. Tell me if ya'll think I'll be ok to eat this. Chicken Primavera
Sliced grilled chicken tossed with angel hair pasta, fresh vegetables, garlic, red pepper and parmesan cheese</SPAN>
I know I can't eat the pasta but I think I can eat the chicken and parmesan cheese and maybe a couple of the veggies.
What do ya'll think? Or maybe someone can suggest something different that might set better.

Oh, good luck on the date!!! I used to LOVE Johnny Corrinos...have one right across the street from the house! I havent been in so long though. I would take it easy with the veggies though. I told my huband that we need to find somewhere nice to go next month for our anniversary, maybe I will follow behind you! LOLOL. Do tell once you get back from your date though!!

Have You Had All These Things Before If You Have Then It Shouldnt Be A Problem. You Dont Want To Try Somthing New On A Date. Lol Lol
Or When I Go Out To Dinner If I Dont See Somthing I Like I Tell The Waiter What I Want Like Grilled Fish Or Chicken. Trust Me They Will Accomodate You. I Do It All The Time. Or If I See Somthing I Can Have On The Menu But Say They Prepare It With Veal And I Dont Like Veal I Ask If They Can Make That With Chicken Instead. Etc
Good Luck On Your Date And Let Us Know How It Goes

Im like boots. I ask the servers to accomodate me and they are very good about it. I will order grilled chicken or fish and some veggies (now that Im 5 months out) but before I would get some mashed potatoes or something like that.
how exciting.......a date. Keep us all posted.

I have told my husband that it is a good thing, I'm married, I would never be able to go on a first date again. Almost without fail, every time I eat, I have to excuse myself 3-4 times through the course of a meal (to spit), it tends to be worse when eating out (nerves maybe?). When I do eat out I almost always order grilled fish (mahi mahi, halibit, and ono are my favorites) and steamed veggies (well done). This is a no-no for alot of you but ordering a drink before dinner helps my food go down better. You might just order a cup of minestrone soup or ask him if he wants to share? Whatever you decide, don't forget to have fun!

I was allowed pasta at three weeks. I guess my surgery center is the only one who did. It had to be well cooked and it was only 3 tbs worth. I would probably stick with an appetizer this early out also. But like Boots said, you will have a few meals worth of left overs if you go for the meal. Just eat slowly and chew, chew, chew. You will be able to make the little you eat last until he is finished with his meal.
Funny thing is my husband is gaining weight because he usually eats some of my leftovers.
