| I hate food!!!!
Currently I'm having swallowing problem...Food starts to taste different...I tried to eat 1 scrambled egg this morning I ate 2 bites and that's all..everything tastes suck! I looked in the mirror checking my tongue ... the color is different (brownish batches) and they feel like burned... I told my surgeon about it, he said most probably it's the dehydration and also the changes after the surgery.
I'm supposed to be in the puree phase but I have anxiety that if I eat anything I will gain weight again :~( maybe that's why I cannot swallow.
I feel sick :~(

You all go through some form of this stage.
You're not the only one dealing with this.
Don't be afraid of gaining weight, it's just physically impossible to, right now, at this stage--unless you eat vey rich, high in fat, high in calorie foods--but do make sure you get in all the water you are supposed to.
How food tastes for you changes a lot, too. It also seems that this happens day by day--you can eat something one day, unable to the next day, then it's fine again a few days later--very confusing. You may find the fragrance enticing, but once you put it in your mouth, it tastes yuck.
Don't worry about what you can get down and what you can't. Just take what you can deal with, and you'll be fine. Remember, you have lots stored in your body, and the whole point of this surgery is to burn off the execess that you have accumilated, so what you actually need are the liquids and the absolute essentials that your body cannot provide(make), like the vitamins, minerals, and essential amino acids, and some carb to encourage your body to release the glucose you need to run your brain.
Relax, and everything will come together in time. Just keep in mind that you have to train your brain first during this time, as to what healthy food is for you, and healthy eating habits are.
Rest your body as much as you can, that's the fastest way to recovery.
May your journey go well.

| Oh....poor thing. Oh Doody....I'm sooo sorry you are going thru this, it's aweful. I loved Doc's posts...it's a lot of great info. I agree with Doc...it's impossible...you will loose weight!! Your stomach is soooo small you will not physically be able to eat as much as you used to. Esp. if you concentrate on low fat...and high protein. Your body really needs the protein.... I don't know if you've heard this but, I've heard the protein speeds up your recovery time...and then also helps that your muscle will not break down...that is why it is sooo important that we exercise too. You don't want your body to go looking for energy and attack your muscle...you want it to attack your FAT!! Concentrate on finding a way to get down your protein...somehow thru liquids....did you find that ISOPURE?? It is soooo smooth...not powdery or grainy. Here is a website of a online store that sells it....these are great prices maybe would make up for shipping! Don't wait!! http://www.bodybuildingoutlet.com/isopure1.html Praying for you...and that your body and mind will like food soon. |

i'm so sorry that you are experiencing this chuppy i can give no advice since i'm not there yet except to take these suggestions from other post ops.
i bought a life brand protien mix drink that is also ssssssssssooooooooooo smooth, if you mix it in a blender with ice (use the frappe setting) it tastes just like a milkshake, and i love milkshakes.

Debi, thanks for the website. I'm looking at it right now. But I'm not sure that the custom will allow it to enter the country or not?? it will take a long process to approve it from the ministry of health and.... aahhhh it's a long process. Anyway, I will check the big protein store tonight thank you sweethear.
Last night I bought to protien chocolate bars but I haven't tried them yet I'm afraid to swallow and have your blocking experience Deb!! I don't want anymore pains that's it!
