Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | HEY CHUPPYGIRL! please try ur best to not weigh in alot it will get the best of your mind! OUR bodies have normal weight fluctuations!!! ESPEICALLY for us gals when our monthly cyles begin! DONT worry you will loose. relax and perhaps rid the scale and only bring it out monthly. (((HUG))) LISA

| WLS Mentor | chuppy, (((HUGS))) so sorry you gained but it's probably like friend said, normal fluctuation. I can't talk from experience but my surgeon did say that fluctuations are to be expected. if you are really worried contact your surgeon when you can. Did you gain alot? hopefully not. i also agree with the scale thing, i used to do that before i got to big to be weighed on a normal scale and it almost drove me crazy on the days that i'd gained even one lb. (then it saw me coming one day and ran away) again all i can offer is (((HUGS))) and hope that you will be going down again soon. freebird

| Super Moderator | ((((((HUGS)))))))) ChuppyGirl, DON'T PANIC!! Your weight will fluctuate, and as Lisa says, TMO brings on retention of fluids, and most people gain at least 2-3lb, some more than 5lb (that would be 1-3kg for you). Also, as I wrote before, if you do not get in the protein and water you need, your body will panic and try to hang on to every single calorie you have consumed. To not let it do so, you have to eat the instructed amount, and exercise as instructed, just walking around your home, going up and down stairs and things are fine at this stage, and make your body realize that it will get what it needs, so it can release what you need to lose. You MUST up your diet as you have been instructed. If you try to stay on liquids when you have already been given the go for pureed, it is only going to make your body try to keep your weight, instead of losing. Throw out your scale!! Don't weigh yourself exept at your dr's office!! If you are going to commiserate over the number your scale indicates, this is the best advice I can give you. P.S. The emotional roller coaster that you are riding right now is what every one goes through post op, so don't be discouraged. You will come out fine in the end, and that is what counts most, not where or how your process takes you in-between. (((((((HUGS)))))))

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Thanks for your feedback. I'm not on my period now so I dunno I'm not sure it's becoz of the cycke thing. I gained 1.5 kg :~( I've noticed that I don't poop!! I do it maybe every 2-3 days!!! Where is the objective of the surgery?? less absorption thing? where does the food go if I don't poop. I'm sorry but I'm totally confused :~~(

| Super Moderator | Oops, with your shortened route, and the present diet you are on, you won't get much left for you to discharge...but that doesn't mean it's OK that you are constipated. You may need some laxative if it is too bad. You had better ask your surgeon about a prescription, or recommendation of OTCs. Don't slack on your water. You need to be sure to get enough water in you, too, so you don't dehydrate. You are still less than a month out. Don't expect things to go the same way as those who are 2-3 months out, or longer. Your body is still reeling, and still healing from the major rearrangement done to your guts. It is NOT going to be up and running in a week or two. Right now, don't bother how much you lost, or how much you gained for the matter. Some post ops actually gain a bit immediately after surgery, and do not start losing until 2-3 weeks out. When was the last time you were able to lose 10kg in 2-3 weeks, if ever? Even when you starve yourself, you can't lose that much, you know. So, your surgery IS working for you. Keep in mind, IMPATIENCE is your worst enemy! ((((((HUGS)))))))

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Doody....I competely agree about throwing out the scale....I finally had my hubby HIDE my scale today...it's too easy to just jump on whenever I see it...so, I'm done!! It is funny how we rely on what that scale to tell us whether we are succeeding or not...THAT is rediculous...ya know?? And I totally agree with Doc. It's true even if you gained a little...WHEN is the last time that you lost more than 20# soooo fast?? You are doing great!! I am glad that you are finally getting your protein...that is soooo soooo important so your body doesn't think you are starving it!! Keep up with your food...and liquids....so you will not get malnurished or dehydrated...these are things you won't want to do!! Remember too that your healing process is going to be a little different than ours. First you had your's OPEN...and you had your gall bladder removed at the same time!!! Your insides are really readjusting....be patient...it will work. You are going to be soooo surprised in 3 months...you will be the happiest girl on the BLOCK!! Patience my sweet friend. (((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) Lovin you....

| WLS Mentor | i tell people that my scale saw me coming and ran away, hehe, but actually i got rid of it in a fit of depression and anger at myself for gaining 10 extra lbs in a month, i must have been about 275 or 300 at that point. i was looking into a scale that went over 400 lbs so i could keep an eye on myself before the surgery but due to cost i will wait till i can find a scale that is normal, since i'll be going down anyway. i may even forgo that and go to my moms once a week and weigh myself there so i don't have the everyday temptation of jumping on the scale.
