Default 10 days out - problem with protein

Guys - I'm really struggling with getting the protein requirement down me.

I'm still on the full liquid diet.

I cannot stand the smell or taste of protein powders/bullets/drinks. Truthfully, they are making me gag. I even have a problem with the so called unflavoured stuff - I add that to my soup.

I'm supposed to do a minimum of 60g a day. All I can manage is 50-55g and that's with me pinching my nose and heaving with every sip.

Getting my liquid in is no problem - just the protein.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Early out, I used Syntrax NECTAR (I love the peach and strawberry/kiwi)...I just mixed it with water. It has 23 grams of protein. I know several on here use Prostat, but I'm now personally hooked on PROFECT bullets. They aren't as thick as NEW WHEY bullets (which have 45 grams of protein, 1/2 of which, our bodies don't absorb). The PROFECT has 25 grams a bullet, and they come in about 12 different flavors. It's about 2 swallows and it's done! (2.9 ounces) I know the prostat has 15 grams of protein per ounce!

I'm sure others will be along with suggestions!

I'm sorry, I don't have any suggestions. I did like the whey protein from Walmart...body Fortress is the name I think. I mixed it with chocolate lite soy milk and I LOVED it. Now, I've tried other kinds, but not really fond of them. I did have a chocolate chip cookie dough one from somewhere and it was SOOOOOO good. But I don't remember where that came from. It was a free sample. With you being this early out, it will be a little hard. Once you can start eating regular foods, you can use foods with protein to help out. I know there are sugar free syrups that people use too. I just never found any other flavor than hazelnut, which is "ok" to me. I did buy some sf chocolate syrup. Maybe that can help hide the taste?

Forgot about the chocolate chip cookie dough Chilly...thanks for reminding me!!

I mixed that with vanilla fat free yogurt and it was ABSOLUTELY sinful!

Kath, Chilly - thank you.

I'm embarassed to tell you just how many tubs of protein I have in the cupboard - they are all SOOOOOOOOO sweet. Even the Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino - which everyone seemed to like - tastes nasty.

The one thing I have never had is a sweet tooth.

This is really beginning to upset me now. Honestly, I'm holding my nose and doing everything I can to get them down me but I know I'm heading for some serious heaving afterwards.

Strained soups are no problem UNTIL I add some unflavoured protein to them. The whole taste, smell and texture changes.

hmmm. early out my surgeon had me focus on getting in the fluids. it wasnt for weeks that i could actually get any protein in. MONTHS until i could get in all 64 ozs. im not saying dont try, but theres just no way you could get it all in at only 10 days out.

also i have been using unjury unflavored protein and either hersheys sf syrup OR hood calorie countdown chocolate milk and i swer you cannot tell the protein powder is even mixed in. might be worth a shot. they sell individual packets so you can try it before buying a whole tub...be careful with it though. you are not supposed to add it to things that are hotter than 130. i dont use it in anything hotter than hot tap water (if that helps)

chin up. it gets easier

So the "sweet" taste must be another problem for you. I still love the sweet taste of things.

I too can not stand any of the protien stuff. I have hundreds of dollars of bullits, Unjury, Designer Whey, etc. that I can not gut. I use Carnation Instant Breakfast to fill in as needed. My doc does not want me watching calories yet, just worry about getting in my protein. So I drink how many it takes to fill in. Good Luck

Yes Chilly - the level of sweetness is a huge problem.

I'm British - been here 6 years now but I have never gotten used to just how sweet everything is over here.

I'm doing well on the liquids - I'll just have to keep pushing the protein as best I can.
