Thumbs down I feel I am slipping

My surgery was a week and a half ago. I lost 15 pounds right off the bat but I also wasn't eating...now howver, I feel like I can eat just about anything. Crackers and bread haven't been a problem, not like I am eating a lot, but enough so that I haven't lost in 2 days. I am scared knowing that since I am not getting sick that I will push to eat all the bad stuff I am not supposed to.....I'm scared I am pushing the envelope too much already...I'm scared that I am doomed to be fat forever and I am not utilizing this to its full potential. Not to mention that the 15lbs hasn't shown in clothes one bit!! No sizes lost or even loose! I am trying to not be too hard on myself or get too discouraged and get back on track, but knowing I can eat whatever without problems , I don't know what is right anymore......HELP!! Anyone been in the same situation? Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Did Your Doc Give You A Plan To Follow? Like What Foods Your Allowed To Have And How Much You Should Be Getting In You, Etc. Wow That Early Out I Was Not Allowed To Have Bread Or Crackers But I Guess Every Doc Is Different Unless Your Doc Didnt Say You Could Have It. Stay Away From Carbs If You Want To Stay On Track Because Carbs Make You Crave More And Make You More Hungry. When Your Hungry Drink Water. Also You Should Be Measuring All Your Foods That You Consume On A Daily Basis.

Hope This Helps A Little. Im 3 Months Out And Still Dont Eat Bread And Only Started With Crackers Like A Month Ago And If I Do Eat Cracker Which Is Like Maybe 2x A Week I Only Limit Myself To 2 Or 3 And Always Must Have It With A Protein Like Low Fat Cheese, Etc

dont get down on yourself so early out. we have all experimented. you may do fine with things now and they may make you puke later. the key is to get back on track. you are not even a month out so get back on track and start eating/drinking what you should at this point. i believe the stages are to make sure that you are healed and dont get any blockages or anything. in the end you will be able to eat normal. why not just take the time to heal before venturing out too far. you recognize that you have stepped out a bit further that you should, take a step back. regain your control while you still can.

I am 10 weeks out and still will not touch bread. You are still healing though and are probably still swollen...give it a lil more time. You WILL notice a difference in your clothes.

At a week and a half I was still on full liquids. Dont push the stages. You will end up getting sick. Follow your surgeons directions and everything will fall into place. You didn't gain the weight overnight, and put it in perspective. Before your surgery have you ever lost 15 lbs in one and a half weeks? Stay away from the scale and follow your program.

I was on a strict liquid diet for weeks......then soft foods - pudding, soup, shakes...... and finally food. I was excited about bread til I realized all the things I wanted to put on it were taboo so I just skipped the bread thing - still havent had it. Are you getting your protein in? That is a biggie for me - I still have to work at that - by the time I get it in Im just sick of chewing!!

I agree with the other ladies. Stick to what the surgeon says. I think alot of what may be making you eat the wrong things is head hunger. This is a big emotional roller coaster. Alot of mind stuff. So I agree try to stick to the plan. It does get boring at times but its for the best. I too didnt have bread or anything like that for quite some time. I barely eat them now and Im 6 months out. Hang in there.

You will be alright. Like the others said... Be sure of what the doctor told you to eat or not to eat. I tried a McDonalds hashbrown as one of my first solid foods.......I was soooo sick! in time you will be able to have the carbs. Like it was said earlier you are probably still swollen from the surgery. Also, our mind doesn't let us see how much we lost like everyone else will see. Hang in there and you will do great!

Congratulations on joining the Loser's Bench.
You're only 10 or so days out, so your pouch and bypass and everything else that was touched by the surgery is still healing. Your pouch is still swollen, so you'll have good days and bad days.
Keep in mind, essentially, it will take 3-4 months until everything has healed, and up to speed.
You stall because your body is trying to adjust to the result of the major surgery and heal first before letting go of all the extra that you carry. It's going to hold on to everything it can, so it wil have plenty of stuff to reinforce the healing.
Since you're a surgical assistant, you would know what goes on with major surgery. Realistically, do you expect for everything to heal in 10 or so days, given all the work that's done inside you body?
Concentrate now on getting in all the fluids that you need to first. Protein is important, too, especially for healing, so you will have to bear up with the gross stuff. There are lots of threads on protien supplements in the Vitamins and Nutrtion forum and the Gastric Bypass Diet and Gastric Bypass Receipe forum, so if you haven't checked the stuff there, then give them a try. Protein Shots that BOOTS survived on early out may help you, if you haven't already tried them.

If you get in the required fluids and protein, that in itself should help in decreasing your cravings.

((((((((HUGS)))))))) May your journey go well.
