Default Don't like the taste of food anymore

I was wondering if anyone else has expirenced the same thing as me. I do not miss food anymore in fact I do not care for the taste of food anymore ever since my surgery. Does this get better with time. I use to like the taste of food and enjoyed eating, but not now. I force myself to eat and I do get my water in every day and I get right around 50 to 60 proteins in a day. My nutrionist says I am doing real good with the food and water. The food that settles best in my pouch is veg. soup, and protein drinks and cheeses. My husband says that I eat like a bird. I do look for foods high in protein and then I like to do a soup a few times a week.
Any suggestions?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

It's just not the same, is it? Personally, I'm grateful for the change. I think I had an unhealthy relationship with food before. I sorta miss brownies and ice cream, but knowing how my body would react to them helps, and, like you said, things dont taste as good as they did. Some things I can have and think I want typically lose all appeal on bite 2. I have a vegie beef soup recipe that pouchy really likes, I've also decided chili is the perfect food for me. You're doing really well -- congrats!

i agree! food is not what it used to be....at least not for/to me. we have a different "relationship" now so to speak. in fact , it is so unappealing i forget to eat sometimes. i too do well with chilli and "saucey" things. but anything else i dont even really want. i sip shakes in the interim. some days are better than others. i HOPE that it gets better

Kitty Most Likely It Will Get A Little Better But Not Totally. There Are Just So Many Foods I Not Only Dislike But Some Even Gross Me Out Now. Its Really Strange. Yeah I Also Did Very Well And Still Do With Cheese.

Keep Up The Great Work! Your Doing Great!!!

yes for me this occurred. BUT further out and overtime it all comes back.
BY then hopefully you have made good healthy life long habits and
are good at the pouch rules.

I always felt like i have some brain surgery as well the way i got towards food.
BUT for me that is no longer a problem

hugs

Yes I agree with you Kitty and the other ladies. Food is not the same. Certain things dont taste godd and then I like new things now. Like Lisa Friendly says I think they re-wired my brain when I was in the operating room.
Tonight I am suppose to be going out to dinner with some old co-workers/very close freinds and they are so excited to try out this new restruant. I keep thinking that I dont even care if I go. Its the wierdest thing. Before surgery I would have been so excited to go out to dinner and now I thinking of a reason to skip so I can come home and get a walk in. ITs another beautiful day here in NY and its like sunny and 80 degrees, not our normal weather. But yes food isnt as exciting as it use to be.

I too do not like many foods. I struggle every day to try to find something to eat...that will settle well with my stomach. Something I tolerate today....I many times don't again. I however keep hearing it gets better.

Well I finally made my chilie for dinner and it settled on my tummy real good and it tasted sooo good too. I am happy that I still like the taste of chilie, I froze two small containers for later on and kept some out for tonight for supper and a small container for tomarrow. Right now I am having 3 sticks of jerky I made before my surgery and is agreeing with me real well. I totolly forgot about the jerky until I went to put the chilie in the frezzer and saw the jerky container. yum yum
I also bought some protein bars before my surgery and was not hungry for anything last night for supper and so I got one of my protein bars out and ate it and it agreed with me very well. It was so scrumptous. Almost like a kit kat bar but a different flavor. I have 3 different flavors. I am going to start to eat them now since I am a litttle over 6 weeks out now. They are called o-yeah bars. 8 grams of carb. and 15 proteins. Their are some o-yeah bars that are high in carbs. and these are the lowest.
Yes, I got alot of stuff before my surgery and was prepared very good with food when I came home. The reason for that my daughter had gastric bypass on December 15, 2006. I got alot of advice what kind of food to get in the house before surgery, is because she was so unprepared when she had her surgery and she said that was hard. So she helped me with what to have in the house when I come home. But I am having different reactions on food than she did. She said she had no problem disliking food Like I have a problem with. She lost 100 pounds in 8 months. She looks awesome. What a difference it made in just 8 months for her. She was having alot of health problems with her weight and she had a full time job and two little kids to keep up with. A 2 year old and a 5 year old.
That is why I like this board so much becasue alot of you experience the same things I am which my daughter cannot help me with. Don't get me wrong, my daughter has taught me alot, it is that she just does not experience the same things I am. She is very strict with herself and never wnats to put the weight back on. She has awesome recipes and are very tastey. But for now my stomach is very uneasy with foods and need help here on this board. You all have been a tremendous help to me. Sorry for such a long post.
Thanks
