| Am I doing it right?
Hello. I am 3.5 weeks post op and I am worried I am not doing things right. The last 2 weeks I have only lost 3 lbs total! Ahhh! The first 2 weeks I lost 28, but now nothing. I am on soft foods. Here is a typical meal day for me, am I eating too much? Am I sabotaging myself? I am so worried the weight isn't coming off! Did I do this for nothing? Please help!!
B- protein shake w/ 6oz ff skim milk and 1/2 banana
L- 2 oz chicken breast w/ mustard
S- 1 oz string cheese, 1 oz chicken
D- 2 oz South Beach meal or 2 oz refried beans w/ cheese
S- sugar free popsicle or 2 oz no sugar added ice cream
What am I doing wrong?

| I can tell you what you're doing wrong -- you're being too hard on yourself These ups and downs are quite normal. Doc has done several info msgs on these times, I will look for one that helped me and will list it if I can find it. Life seems so good when we're cruising along along but when we get stuck it's a little scary. Just keep taking care of yourself, walk as directed by your doctor and things will get in gear again soon (my first stall was 4 weeks, this one is 2 weeks so far). I use sparkpeople to keep up with calorie intake and protein intake, it can be helpful if you feel you're taking in too much of something. I'll look for that post

| Hey - I found a post Doc did on the subject - it's pretty good considering you are early out - I responded earlier but it's not showing on my screen right now (???) anyway the post is from Doc on 9-18-07 at 8:48. Basically talks about your body and it's healing and weight loss isn't on the top of it's priority list. Hang in there!

No you are not doing anything wrong. you are still early out yet. you only had surgery a month ago and your body is still healing. It will work. You have to give it patienec. Which is easier said than done. Hang in there.

Based on the menu...what is your protein intake? And...how much water are you consuming? Those seem to be key issues for me (early out and now!) I aim for 75 grams of protein...though I usually get to 60 or 65....my h2o intake is 75 to 100 ounces a day....I think I'm growing gills!

Kerr-Bear, my surgery was just a month ago, and my doctor told me to just focus on getting in protein FIRST at each meal, be sure to get in 64 oz. water a day (protein shakes count toward this) and to be sure to take my vitamins everyday. They promised me that if I did this along with my walking, it would come. I have been stalled now for 2 1/2 weeks, but I know it will eventually change. Hang in there.

Yep, you are going to stall, its inevitable! But it will start back up and in the process, you will be losing the inches. Dont worry...we have all been where you are now.

Yes, Kerr-Bear, it will come. If all the people on this site have gone through the same thing and their success is wonderful, mine and your's will be too. We are going to get through this together.
