Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I was wondering if a person can eat grapefruits, because I have not read anything on eating grapefruits here. If I can, is a little over 3 months to early yet. I am sucking the juice out of the orange and have no problem with them. I eat an orange every day. Just curious on your opinions on how you all are doing with oranges. My nutrionist said that was ok. But I forgot to ask her about the grapefruit. Today will be the first day that I am going to try an eat a pear, well I should say I will be sharing one with my husband because the pears are pretty big. So I will see if a pear agrees with me.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | While its best to confirm you can have them with your Dr - as far as tolerating them goes, I couldnt eat grapefruit pre-op but tolerate them fine post-op. Pears are very gentle on my tummy, sort of like applesauce is. Im not a big veggie person, but love most fruits and have had no problems with them. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I eat apples (peeled), strawberries, peaches, and bananas! I know with citrus, they told us to watch the segment membranes, as they can get stuck in the pouch...I would assume grapefruit would be ok....keep in mind, they are high in NATURAL sugar (fructose)...I've heard this can cause dumping in some post-oppers! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Three months out you should be fine. They say to avoid citrus and anything stringy, but thats in the beginning, you're eating solids not you should be fine.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I dont know but you have asked a great question. I myself eat a bit of a pear this AM from a gift that was sent to me and my hubby from the company Harry and David. Those are the best pears I have ever eat in my life. We recived them last year and I thought I was in heaven. I pealed the pear on purpose. I eat a couple bites of it and loved it. They break down so fast and are so full of juice. I will watch this thread on the grapefruit question. |
