Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

My suregon said it was ok in moderation. They perfer me to drink the decaf but I have had no problems. You will most likely get many different answeres on this question since all of our surgeons do different things. There is a wide varitey with the surgones.

i was told in the beginning i could not have it but i was cleared at 6 weeks i think...i dont drink it much now because it tends to dry me out. and for every cup you drink, you are supposed to drink a cup of water because caffeine doesnt count towards your fluids. but every doc is different.

I started back to coffee at 2 weeks....and I've never looked back...I probably don't drink as much as I used to, but I still have it...I know it bothers some pouches....

For me coffee is a yes yes and yes....i am a big coffee drinker. I was told it was ok in moderation...although i know i drink way to much,....

As always should follow your surgeon/nutrionist instructions as all are different.

Caffeine is a diuretic--makes you lose water, which is one of the reasons there are drs and nuts who will say absolutely no, while others say in moderation. Also, come caffeine drinks stimulate and damage the membranes of the stomach/pouch, which is another reason you are told to stay away from them.
In any case, follow YOUR surgeon and nut's instructions, not what others are told okay. Once youare further out, though, it's possible you will be told you can have it so long as you keep the amount small.

My doc says no caffiene at all/ I have never had a cup of coffee in my life (had 1 sip once, yuk!), so I don't miss that. I did drink a lot of iced iea thoughm and I miss that. Actually had a half of a glass today when I was at a friends house and it was wonderful!! Didn't seem to bother me either.

I drink coffee -- in fact, I had my nurse tell me to drink coffee, because after surgery I was getting a severe headache and it was from caffine withdrawal! I still drink it -- its not a lot. I maybe get one cup in a day, but I haven't had any problems. I even have a little glass of FLAT diet coke from time to time as a treat. They say you are suppossed to give up caffine, but I think its different for everyone.

I still have iced tea as well (not like I used to)...I'm from the south...we drink gallons of tea with EVERY meal....that was the hardest...learning to not drink while I ate!

I agree with Doc....EVERY surgeon is different...check with yours and see what they say!

I just started back on coffee last month. Have one cup a day. My surgeon said no caffeine for six months.
